Working in basketball: the NBA's summer surge

There are 527 open basketball roles across 40 organizations.

Basketball hiring is seasonal in the opposite direction from the office calendar: the offseason is the busy season. In our posting data the NBA's hiring share roughly doubles heading into summer, as teams reset after playoff runs and build out for the next season, posting the year's deepest slate of openings between June and September. If you are targeting an NBA job, summer is your window.

The NBA also stands out for the size and reach of its league office, one of the largest employers in pro sports in its own right, spanning media and content, global marketing, technology, and events work that no single club can match. G League affiliates add adjacent doors - many are operated by NBA ownership groups and hire through the same career portals as the parent club.

On the team side the pattern matches the rest of the industry: sales and service roles hire in volume, basketball operations hires narrowly and technically. Basketball analytics is among the most competitive niches in sports - strong candidates show real code and real research, not just fandom. Apply directly through each team's careers page, and check the league office's portal alongside the clubs.
