The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins are looking for a hands-on Custodial Operations Supervisor to lead all janitorial, sanitation, and game-day cleanup operations at VyStar Ballpark. This position will oversee a large team of part-time, seasonal cleaning staff. The goal is to ensure the concourses, seating bowl, suites, clubhouses, event spaces, and restrooms are spotless before, during, and after every home game and stadium event.
Core Responsibilities
- Team Leadership. Hire, train, mentor, and supervise Shift Leads and seasonal crew members. Set clear expectations for pre-game prep, in-game maintenance, and post-game cleanup, and model those standards by doing the work yourself when the situation calls for it.
- Staffing. Recruit and maintain a reliable pipeline of part-time seasonal workers so every shift is fully staffed.
- Scheduling. Build flexible labor schedules around the home-stand calendar, doubleheaders, rain delays, and non-baseball events such as corporate meetings and private parties.
- Quality Control. Inspect the seating bowl, suites, dugouts, clubhouses, and public areas, and get your hands dirty to close gaps. Make sure the ballpark is back to opening-gate condition within tight windows between back-to-back game days.
- Inventory & Equipment. Order, track, and maintain cleaning chemicals, paper products, and equipment (pressure washers, blowers, auto-scrubbers, etc.). Keep inventory aligned with upcoming home-stand needs.
- Safety. Enforce OSHA guidelines, proper chemical dilution and handling, and correct PPE use. Keep Safety Data Sheets (SDS) current.
- Budget. Oversee seasonal labor hours and supply spending to stay within the ballpark’s annual operating budget.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial operations, or facility management.
- A proven ability to manage a split-shift, part-time hourly workforce, and keep them motivated.
- Comfort with a hands-on role: you’re willing to do the work you ask your team to do.
- Availability for an event-driven schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on the team’s home schedule and event calendar.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods, climb stadium stairs and ramps, lift and move supplies and equipment up to 50lbs, and work outdoors in heat, rain, and cold.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience in a sports venue, minor or major league stadium, arena, or amusement park is preferred.
