Position Summary:

The Senior Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of projects within the Project Management Department. This role oversees the management of project timelines, budgets, documentation, and communication across teams and vendors to ensure successful delivery of assigned projects.

 

The Senior Project Manager works under the direction of the Principal Project Manager and plays a key role in driving the end-to-end execution of public works and stadium improvement projects.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage full lifecycle of public works projects per California Public Contract Code, ensuring legal compliance across all procurement and construction activities.
  • Define project scope and objectives, aligning with business goals and achieving consensus among senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial efficiency and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Build and maintain project schedules, work plans, and contingency/recovery plans using advanced PM tools to ensure timely delivery.
  • Oversee coordination with vendors, suppliers, and external partners; manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay applications, prevailing wage documentation, and design modifications.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and progress to stakeholders; lead project meetings and act as central liaison across departments, contractors, and external agencies.
  • Review project documents for quality and adherence to directives; provide feedback on scope, design, and specifications.
  • Facilitate permit applications, track status, manage plan check responses, and coordinate inspections and approvals from AHJs and third-party testing agencies.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Procurement on public works bids and SCSA Board award processes; maintain relationships with City of Santa Clara and SCSA personnel.
  • Conduct facility assessments, support CapEx planning, and contribute to long-term asset management strategies.
  • Manage project documentation, closeout procedures, and punch lists through final project completion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Required Abilities and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to shepherd projects from inception through completion, balancing strategic and tactical demands.
  • Possesses practical supervisory and organizational skills to manage time effectively while balancing and prioritizing multiple or competing tasks.
  • Displays a technical knowledge of the design process from concept to construction documentation.
  • Familiarity of public works construction practices, including a strong familiarity with the specific legal frameworks governing municipal and state-funded projects in California.
  • Drives innovation and creativity, identifying and implementing cutting-edge solutions and design trends.
  • Exercises patience and determination in problem-solving, ensuring swift and effective resolution of project challenges.
  • Excels under the pressure of tight timelines and complicated projects with demanding stakeholders.
  • Recognizes personal bias and others’ tendency toward bias and takes measures to mitigate the influence of bias in business decisions.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and commitment to project success.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively build a network of contacts at all levels within the industry and in the community, both internally and externally.

 

Education and Experience:

  • At least 5-7 years’ relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Construction project management experience, specifically on public works projects, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

Compensation:

$105-115K
