The Manager of Family Engagement & Services supports the holistic well-being, engagement, and experience of players’ significant others and families throughout their NFL experience. This role serves as the primary point of contact for families, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and connected while maintaining strict confidentiality and prioritizing the needs of players.
The Manager provides strategic family support for players, coaches, and executives, connecting them to internal resources and executing programming that enhances the player experience and strengthens family services across the organization. This role will uplift the organization's mission of delivering best-in-class support and services for the player experience, building a supportive community so that players' and staff families are cared for off the field, allowing them to focus on the field.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as the daily communication liaison for players’ families, providing updates on processes, schedules, gameday logistics, and club resources.
- In support of Football Operations, manage and deliver spouse/partner orientation, new player onboarding, veteran transitions, and exit-to-alumni handoffs.
- Foster social connection and community among players' families, helping them build a support system based on relationships to navigate the unique challenges of NFL life, including relocation, time away from players, financial stressors, and social media pressures.
- Lead the Bay Area Living program by creating strategic partnerships with local housing resources and develop practical housing options for individual, group, and family needs.
- Support housing, relocation, and community integration for players, coaches, and football executives.
- Develop & deliver 49ers Rookie Family Symposium, couples programming, healthy relationship workshops, motherhood sessions, children’s programming, and preseason family calls and/or family orientation.
- Serve as primary liaison among Team Ops, players, families, and the League for all team and NFL programs (Training Camp Friends & Family, Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, Career Development).
- Manage team travel communication for families, including logistics for domestic and international travel (e.g., NFL International Games), game-day support, and ticketing needs.
- Support players, coaches, and executives with off-field family matters including gameday logistics, conflict resolution, healthy parenting, player health insurance protocols for new dependents, mental health resources, financial literacy, brand development, and social media risk training.
- Manage the family engagement budget: planning, forecasting, and fiscal accountability. Leverage club and corporate partnerships to secure event enhancements and track vendor relationships and event ROI.
- Maintain family contact database; build and manage a participation dashboard linking engagement to personal development and family outcomes; use shared data, including community interest, to continuously refine programming.
- In partnership with 49ers Team Ops and Community Relations ensure childcare availability across all applicable family programs and events, not limited to gameday.
- Stay current on NFL player policies and benefits; serve as first point of contact for player and family questions on compensation, benefits, and licensing; report to the General Manager and Head Coach as needed.
- Support Community Relations, 49ers Foundation, and People Operations, with player appearances for team community events (Golden Getaway, DDYF Youngstown Gala, 49ers Players for Purpose, etc.) and collaborate with Player Engagement, Team Operations, and Coaching Operations to streamline family resources.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all family communications, engaging only with individuals authorized by the player.
- Abide by and enforce all NFL Rules, including the Personal Conduct Policy, Alcohol Policy, Substance Abuse Policy, and Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- At least 5-7 years of experience in youth sports, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Athlete Development Professional certification, strongly recommended
- Strongly preferred, master’s in counseling, sport administration, organizational leadership, social work, or MBA.
- Mental Health First Aid, crisis intervention training, and suicide prevention gatekeeper training.
- Financial counseling literacy or approved vendor certification.
- Media and digital-risk training renewed annually.
- Evidence of crisis leadership, family engagement, personal development, and program design.

The employee will be sitting in an indoor/outdoor facility the majority of the time and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
The employee is frequently required to sit, walk/stand, and move/lift up to 25 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
This position requires the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
Travel:
5% of local travel time expected for this position.
Compensation:
$90,000-$100,000
