THE POSITION

Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) is seeking a Senior Financial Systems Analyst to join its Finance team. Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance, this role will lead the administration, support, and continuous improvement of CSEC’s financial systems, including Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or Dynamics 365 Business Central, Solver, and related reporting and business intelligence tools.

Working closely with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders, the successful candidate will leverage their financial expertise and technical knowledge to optimize processes, enhance reporting, automate workflows, strengthen internal controls, and support the integrity of financial data across the organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

      • Serve as a senior Finance resource for the administration, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
      • Take a lead role in maintaining the reliability, integrity, and effective operation of CSEC’s core financial systems.
      • Support and maintain system configuration, chart of accounts, dimensions, security roles, workflows, reporting structures, integrations, and other Finance-related functionality.
      • Administer and support Solver, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, planning, and management reporting applications.
      • Develop and enhance financial reports, templates, reporting trees, budget models, and data connections within Solver.
      • Work closely with Finance and IT to manage user access, security roles, permissions, and segregation of duties across financial applications.
      • Coordinate and support system upgrades, patches, releases, testing, and implementation of new functionality.
      • Maintain appropriate testing procedures and environments to validate system changes prior to production deployment.
      • Provide senior-level support to Finance users, troubleshoot system issues, and coordinate resolution with IT and external technology partners where required.
      • Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, user guides, and training materials.
      • Provide training and ongoing support to Finance end users.

      Data, Reporting and Integration

      • Develop, maintain, and improve integrations and data flows between financial systems and other CSEC applications.
      • Monitor data interfaces and proactively identify and resolve data discrepancies, integration failures, and reconciliation issues.
      • Develop and maintain financial and management reporting solutions using Solver, Excel, Power BI, SQL, and other reporting tools, as applicable.
      • Assist in developing reliable and efficient data structures that provide Finance with consistent and accessible financial and operational information.
      • Support reconciliation between source systems, the general ledger, reporting applications, and management reports.
      • Develop queries, reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to improve access to financial and operational information.
      • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for improved data integration, reporting, and automation.
      • Help establish consistent sources of financial data and improve the accessibility and reliability of information used for financial and management reporting.

      Process Improvement and Automation

      • Proactively review existing Finance processes and identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve controls, and increase efficiency through automation and improved system functionality.
      • Work with Accounting and FP&A teams to improve month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other Finance processes.
      • Translate Finance and business requirements into practical system, reporting, and process solutions.
      • Lead or support the evaluation, selection, implementation, and integration of new Finance technology.
      • Participate in Finance transformation and continuous-improvement initiatives.
      • Identify opportunities to better leverage existing CSEC technology before introducing additional applications or processes.
      • Support requirements gathering, solution design, testing, implementation, training, and change management for Finance-related projects.
      • Assist in developing project requirements, implementation plans, testing strategies, and timelines for system initiatives.

      Controls and Governance

      • Support the design and maintenance of appropriate financial system controls, including user access, approval workflows, segregation of duties, and change-management procedures.
      • Conduct periodic user-access and security reviews.
      • Support internal and external audit requests relating to financial systems, data, access, and controls.
      • Help ensure the accuracy, completeness, security, and reliability of financial information across CSEC’s Finance technology environment.
      • Maintain clear documentation of system configurations, processes, controls, integrations, and changes.
      • Work with Finance and IT to establish appropriate governance over financial systems and financial data.

      Finance and Business Partnership

      • Act as a key liaison between Finance, IT, and operational departments, helping translate financial requirements into technology solutions and technical concepts into practical business applications.
      • Develop a strong understanding of CSEC’s accounting, FP&A, and operational processes to identify opportunities for better use of technology and data.
      • Serve as a senior point of contact for Finance users requiring systems, reporting, and data support.
      • Build productive relationships with external software providers, consultants, and implementation partners.
      • Proactively identify system enhancements and reporting capabilities that can improve financial processes and organizational decision-making.
      • Promote effective use of CSEC’s Finance systems and help develop stronger systems knowledge across the Finance team.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • Communicate effectively with Finance professionals, operational stakeholders, technical resources, and external partners.
  • Be organized and capable of independently managing multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment.
