Title: Manager, Event Security

Department: Arena Operations

Reports To: Senior Director, Security

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary:

The Sacramento Kings are seeking a security leader to direct event security at Golden 1 Center for NBA games, concerts, and special events. The Manager, Event Security develops event-specific plans, staffing deployments, and emergency procedures; leads supervisors and officers; and coordinates with venue departments, public safety agencies, teams, performers, promoters, and service partners. The role also supports building security operations and technology that support safe, well-coordinated events.

The Manager works with the Arena Security Director, Downtown Commons Security Director, and VP of Security Operations to align event plans with venue procedures, NBA standards, and emergency response requirements. Success requires strong communication, sound event-day judgment, consistent guest service, and productive working relationships with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead event security operations for NBA games, concerts, and special events at Golden 1 Center, setting event-specific plans that protect guests, employees, performers, players, officials, and clients while supporting a positive guest experience.
  • Develop event security plans based on event type, attendance projections, risk profile, venue configuration, and promoter, league, and artist requirements, address screening, access points, perimeters, crowd movement, and restricted areas.
  • Lead event readiness planning with Event Management, Guest Services, Arena Operations, Team Operations, and show partners; confirm roles, staffing, communications, and response plans before doors open.
  • Prepare event staffing estimates and deployment plans for security officers, supervisors, contracted security, law enforcement, fire, medical, and other response partners as needed.
  • Lead pre-event security briefings and after-action reviews; capture lessons learned, assign follow-up actions, and improve plans for future events.
  • Provide direction and coaching to event security supervisors and officers; establish clear expectations for posts, radio communications, guest interaction, incident response, and report completion.
  • Coordinate event-day security operations through Mission Control, maintaining a shared operational picture and timely communication among security, event management, emergency responders, and venue departments.
  • Direct or support incident response during events, including crowd emergencies, medical calls, guest conflicts, ejections, prohibited items, and show-stop or evacuation decisions in coordination with event leadership and emergency responders.
  • Plan and oversee crowd management for ingress, egress, queues, high-density areas, plazas, concourses, seating areas, and other event spaces; adjust staffing and controls as conditions change.
  • Coordinate security arrangements with NBA and visiting team representatives, promoters, touring productions, artists, public officials, and other event stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento Fire Department, medical providers, contracted security partners, and local, state, and federal security agencies.
  • Apply NBA Arena Security Procedures and Guidelines and venue policies consistently; ensure event plans reflect applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and labor agreements.
  • Investigate event-related security incidents and guest complaints; coordinate with relevant departments and support timely, appropriate resolution.
  • Maintain accurate event incident records in the electronic incident management system, including timely reports, investigations, post-event summaries, and follow-up actions.
  • Develop and exercise event emergency procedures, including evacuation, shelter-in-place, severe weather, and other incident response plans; provide effective direction to staff during emergencies.
  • Oversee event screening, credentialing, and access control practices for guests, employees, teams, performers, vendors, and service partners.
  • Lead crowd management and event safety training for full-time and part-time employees; evaluate training needs and reinforce consistent event procedures.
  • Assist with CCTV, access control, credentialing, incident management, radio communications, and systems supporting Mission Control.
  • Assess security conditions at building perimeters, parking areas, access points, staff work areas, Mission Control, and loading dock operations; coordinate corrective actions with responsible departments.
  • Coordinate security matters affecting the mixed-use development surrounding Golden 1 Center with the Downtown Commons Security Director.
  • Lead by example, demonstrate hands-on guest service, promote teamwork, support internal and external security investigations, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:
