Reports to: Director, New Business and Premium Sales
Location: PPG Paints Arena, 1001 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Status: Paid Internship, Part-Time, In-Person
Schedule: Flexible scheduling within 30–40 hours per week, including availability during day and evening hours, nights, weekends, and Pittsburgh Penguins home games as scheduled.
Compensation: $10/hour
Overview
The Ticket Sales Intern will observe and learn the basics of how a professional ticketing department functions. This internship provides hands-on experience in ticket sales and will include exposure to season ticket sales, group sales, membership retention, and ticketing operations throughout the semester.
The intern will work closely with the ticket sales team and will gain experience in prospecting, customer relationship management, sales events, research, and fan experience.
Key Responsibilities
Ticket Sales & Prospecting
- Learn all aspects of the ticket sales process.
- Cold-call past purchasers, local businesses, and organizations.
- Self-prospect and search for opportunities to assist new businesses and local organizations through season ticket, group, or premium packages.
- Assist with prospecting initiatives and sales opportunities.
Customer & Ticketing Operations
- Update customer information in Ticketmaster Archtics and/or CRM when needed.
- Assist in the planning, development, and execution of both prospecting and season ticket holder events.
- Support the department in maintaining a positive customer and fan experience.
Research & Department Support
- Conduct research and brainstorm new benefits, incentives, events, and experiences for the department.
- Support various department initiatives and projects.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Applicants should have completed at least two years of college or demonstrate equivalent education, training, or relevant experience in a related field.
- Ability to work in person at PPG Paints Arena.
- Availability to work 30–40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and Pittsburgh Penguins home games as scheduled.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
Preferred Skills
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Customer service and fan experience orientation.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Open to feedback with a strong desire to learn and grow; highly coachable and receptive to guidance.
Penguins Internship Program Information

Application Review: Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis and reached out with initial communication by Friday, October 30th, at the latest.
Anticipated Internship Term: January 11th, 2027 - April 16th, 2027
Course Credit: Students remain eligible for earning course credits for their internship and will be responsible for ensuring that the internship meets the criteria of their program and/or university.
