POSITION OVERVIEW:
The 76ers Seasonal Communications Associate will assist the Basketball Communications department and play an integral role with a variety of duties, including but not limited to, media availabilities, game notes, post-game notes, press releases, and media access logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED, TO THE BELOW:
- Work closely with department team members on the production and distribution of all external communication and publications, including press releases, game notes, and team media guides
- Compile team and individual records/statistics/milestones/etc. to form narratives and keep broadcast partners and internal stakeholders informed
- Work closely with the department’s game night staff throughout all home games, including preseason and the NBA Playoffs, to ensure operation logistics are complete and up to department standards
- Create and distribute media credentials for local, national, and visiting media, while maintaining accurate credential/media attendance records for each game
- Transcribe various press conferences and interviews for basketball operations and media usage
- Distribute box scores and necessary team information via email to media lists on home game nights.
- Monitor and share news and articles with the 76ers Basketball Communications team
- Compile daily clips and articles for HBSE portfolio news briefing
- Assist with the media availability process at all shootarounds/practices/games
- Available for all 76ers games, home or away for the Basketball Communications department
- Work closely with the Basketball Communications department to contribute ideas for off-court stories
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous professional communications experience preferred
- Prior experience working with media members preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye for grammar, spelling, etc.
- Strong attention to detail with commitment to high-quality work
- Strong typing skills, required to transcribe press conferences and interviews
- Discretion and trustworthiness related to all confidential information
- Ability to multitask and handle projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting
- Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, and media monitoring services
- Strong understanding of the NBA landscape with desire to learn about the franchise’s storied history
- Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basketball statistics
- Ability to demonstrate a strategic mindset and work in a fast-paced environment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel Requirements: May be required to travel occasionally including between HBSE’s various offices; trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay.
- Work Environment: This position requires that work primarily be performed from the 76ers’ office in Camden, NJ, and the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, PA. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed based on game schedule.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to move up to 25 pounds.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $40,000 and $45,000/season. This position will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
This position will be an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
