Location: Pittsburgh Penguins, PPG Paints Arena, 1001 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Status: Paid Internship, Part-Time, In-Person
Schedule: Flexible scheduling within 25–30 hours per week, including availability during day and evening hours, weekends, and event days.
Compensation: $10/hour
Overview
The Events Intern will assist in the service of all current and potential event and hospitality initiatives. This internship provides hands-on experience in event production and hospitality and will include opportunities to support event planning, proposal development, event operations, vendor management, and event-day execution.
The intern will work closely with the Events and Hospitality team and will gain experience in event planning tools, floor plans, guest communications, event logistics, and event execution.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Development
- Create effective event and hospitality-based proposals using PowerPoint, Photoshop, Word, and other tools with direction from Events and Hospitality team.
- Create effective event and hospitality-based briefs using PowerPoint, Photoshop, Word, and other tools with direction from Events and Hospitality team.
- Develop a clear understanding of the difference between a proposal and a brief.
- Create and manage viable floor plans.
Event Communications & Logistics
- Create and manage invite lists to facilitate initial correspondence, track responses, send reminders, and utilize data to update program partners using Excel, Formstack, and Swoogo.
- Create and manage an effective Run of Show (ROS).
- Use the internet to research industry trends, source venues, and procure supplies and gifts.
- Determine program needs and procure supplies in a budget-friendly manner.
Event-Day Operations
- Provide event-day support for all on- and off-site programs, including setup, teardown, admissions, registration, vendor management, and all duties related to execution.
- Manage event-day volunteers.
- Manage the receipt, use, and inventory of surplus supplies.
Administrative Support
- Perform various office tasks, including copying, proofreading, and mailing.
- Support the Events and Hospitality team with additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Applicants should have completed at least two years of college or demonstrate equivalent education, training, or relevant experience in a related field.
- Ability to work in person at PPG Paints Arena.
- Availability to work 25–30 hours per week, including event days and occasional evenings or weekends.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Experience or interest in event planning, hospitality, sports, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
- Familiarity with Excel, Formstack, Swoogo, Photoshop, or similar tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Anticipated Internship Term: January 11th, 2027 - April 16th, 2027
Course Credit: Students remain eligible for earning course credits for their internship and will be responsible for ensuring that the internship meets the criteria of their program and/or university.
