Position Overview:
Chicago Fire Football Club is seeking a Director of Digital Content to lead the development of compelling, culturally relevant organic and sponsored content that grows fandom, strengthens brand awareness and supports key business priorities across the organization. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Brand and Communications, this role will oversee the Club's social media team and help shape an integrated content strategy that brings the Chicago Fire FC brand to life for 3M+ followers. Ultimately this role is responsible for audience growth, engagement & monetization.
The Director of Digital Content will partner closely with the Executive Creative Director on core Club marketing campaigns, translating creative platforms into content that connects with current and prospective fans. This role will also work closely with the corporate partnerships team to develop sponsored content and partner integrations that are creative, authentic and valuable to both Fire fans and partners.
This is a hands-on leadership role. In addition to overseeing the Club’s social media strategy and managing social media specialist(s), the individual should be comfortable creating, editing and publishing social content as needed, especially during matchdays and major Club moments. The role will support the broader marketing department and organizational initiatives while ensuring content is consistent with the Fire’s brand and aligned with business goals.
The ideal candidate blends strong storytelling and creative instincts with strategic thinking, attention to detail and analytical rigor. They should be experts across all social media channels, understand how to break through the noise in an algorithm-driven digital world and be committed to staying up-to-date on the latest content trends and platform functionality. They should understand soccer, Chicago and the cultural conversations surrounding both; be comfortable collaborating with players and talent; and thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.

- Direct the day-to-day social media publishing, while being able to create, edit and publish content on an as-needed basis.
- Assist with, direct and escalate any issues pertaining to community management, social listening and brand reputation management via digital channels.
- Partner with the Executive Creative Director and brand marketing team to develop and activate core marketing campaigns, ensuring campaign objectives translate effectively into channel-specific content.
- Oversee the Club’s social media strategy, publishing calendars and workflows that improve creativity, consistency, quality and speed across the Club's social media channels.
- Collaborate with the video, design, photography, and communication teams to identify, prioritize and execute content opportunities across the organization.
- Oversee content for matches, Club events, player and coach storytelling, community initiatives and other priority business moments that connect to the broader Chicago and soccer landscape.
- Use audience insights, platform analytics and performance data to evaluate content, identify opportunities and continuously refine the social media strategy and creative priorities.
- Ensure content is optimized for the audience, format and best practices of each social platform while maintaining a cohesive brand voice and high editorial standard.
