The Digital Marketing Manager owns the day-to-day performance of San Diego FC’s website and app. This person uses data to understand how fans move through both platforms, where they drop off and what moves them to take action. They turn those insights into a better digital experience and stronger conversion.
This role also serves as the operational lead for performance marketing campaigns, managing the work from brief through launch. The Digital Marketing Manager partners with Paid Media on campaign needs, works with Creative to develop the assets and coordinates delivery across paid and owned channels. The goal is to make sure every campaign launches cleanly and every click leads to an experience built to convert.
We are looking for someone who makes SDFC’s website and app better every month. The right person will understand how fans move through our digital platforms, remove what gets in their way, and make sure our campaigns turn attention into action.
Key Responsibilities
Website and App Management
- Manage daily updates and maintenance across the SDFC website and app, including schedules, match information, promotions, and partner placements.
- Build and update campaign landing pages and promotional placements across owned platforms.
- Write short-form marketing copy for the website and app, including match-week promotions, on-sale announcements and calls to action.
- Make sure ticketing, merchandise, and partner integrations work properly.
- Serve as the primary contact for website and app vendors.
- Log, prioritize, and track technical issues, fixes, and feature requests.
Analytics and Optimization
- Own website and app analytics, including traffic, user journeys, engagement and conversion.
- Analyze fan behavior to identify friction, drop-off, and opportunities to improve the path to purchase.
- Lead ongoing testing across pages, journeys and calls to action.
- Monitor site speed, mobile performance, and accessibility, then work with the appropriate partners to address issues.
- Measure landing-page and on-site conversion and connect those results to paid and owned marketing activities.
- Deliver regular reporting on what worked, what did not and what should change.
- Partner with Analytics and Business Intelligence on dashboards, data quality and deeper fan insights.
Campaign Management
- Manage performance marketing campaigns from intake through launch using Asana.
- Establish timelines, assign owners, and track approvals and deadlines.
- Maintain one campaign calendar across paid, owned, and promotional activity.
- Identify risks early and help drive the decisions needed to keep campaigns moving.
- Coordinate closely with Paid Media while maintaining a clear division between campaign operations and media strategy or buying.
Creative Briefing and Asset Management
- Develop clear briefs with Paid Media that define the objective, audience, required formats, platform specifications and copy needs.
- Partner with Creative on asset production, including resizing, versioning and variations for testing.
- Manage the asset review and approval process to make sure final files are on brand, on spec and delivered on time.
- Maintain an organized library of active and evergreen campaign assets.
Asset Trafficking and Launch Quality Assurance
- Coordinate and traffic approved assets across paid platforms, including Meta, Google, programmatic and streaming.
- Deliver assets and campaign requirements across owned channels, including web, app, email and SMS.
- Apply consistent UTM structures, naming conventions, pixels and other tracking requirements.
- Review every launch for working links, accurate landing pages, proper tracking, correct specifications and campaign timing.
- Manage creative rotation and refreshes based on campaign performance.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work with Ticketing on on-sales, single-match campaigns and promotional offers.
- Partner with Corporate Partnerships on sponsor placements and integrations across the website and app.
- Coordinate with CRM and Lifecycle Marketing on email, SMS and customer journeys.
- Work with IT and Legal on privacy requirements, consent management, data compliance, and tracking standards.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in digital product management, website and app management, digital marketing operations, or campaign management.
- A track record of using analytics to improve digital experiences, engagement, and conversion.
- Strong GA4 skills and experience with tag management, UTMs, pixels, and testing tools.
