Location: PPG Paints Arena, 1001 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Status: Paid Internship, Part-Time, In-Person
Schedule: Flexible scheduling within 15–20 hours per week, including availability during day and evening hours, weekends, and Pittsburgh Penguins home games as needed.
Compensation: $10/hour
Overview
The Digital Intern will assist with social media, photography, website management, content curation, and digital marketing projects. This internship provides hands-on experience across the Pittsburgh Penguins’ digital channels and will include opportunities to create content, support social media efforts, manage website content, and stay informed on digital and social media trends.
The intern will work closely with the Digital staff and will gain experience in photography, graphic design, short-form video, social media, website management, and digital content strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Photography & Content Capture
- Assist in photography efforts for Penguins’ social media and website.
- Capture and collect engaging in-game fan content for use on Penguins’ digital channels at home games, including photos, videos, and interviews with fans.
- Assist with photo management and tagging of players.
Social Media & Content Creation
- Create graphics and edit short-form video content for the Penguins’ social channels.
- Assist with drafting and brainstorming content for the Penguins’ social networks.
- Prepare one-pagers on social media trends and changes to social networks.
- Assist with content curation and digital marketing projects.
Website & Digital Management
- Assist with management and maintenance of nhl.com/penguins.
- Support the organization and maintenance of digital content and website assets.
- Assist with additional digital projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Applicants should have completed at least two years of college or demonstrate equivalent education, training, or relevant experience in a related field.
- Ability to work in person at PPG Paints Arena.
- Availability to work 15–20 hours per week, including weekends and Pittsburgh Penguins home games as needed.
- Demonstrated interest in digital media, social media, photography, marketing, communications, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- Pursuing a degree in digital media, sports management, marketing, communications, multimedia journalism, or a related field.
- Familiarity with DSLR cameras.
- Familiarity with social media best practices.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Bridge.
- Outgoing personality, strong hockey knowledge, and familiarity with the NHL and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Penguins Internship Program Information

Anticipated Internship Term: January 11th, 2027 - April 16th, 2027
Course Credit: Students remain eligible for earning course credits for their internship and will be responsible for ensuring that the internship meets the criteria of their program and/or university.
