Location: PPG Paints Arena, 1001 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Status: Paid Internship, Part-Time, In-Person
Schedule: Flexible scheduling within 30–40 hours per week, including availability during day and evening hours, game nights, weekends, and select non-hockey events.
Compensation: $10/hour

Overview

The Corporate Partnerships Intern will assist in the service of all current and potential corporate partners. This internship provides hands-on experience in corporate partnership sales, operations, and marketing within a professional sports organization.

The intern will work closely with the Partnerships team and will gain experience in partnership sales and activation, market research, proposal development, sponsorship fulfillment, partner marketing campaigns, and event execution.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Sales & Research
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team in all areas of the sales and activation process.
  • Identify industry trends and brands that are actively investing in sports partnerships.
  • Generate new leads for the Partnership Sales team through prospect, market, and category research.
  • Assist in creating partnership proposals with guidance from the Partnerships team.

Partnership Marketing & Activation
  • Assist the Partnership Marketing team in developing and executing fully integrated marketing campaigns for partners.
  • Build activation recaps with proof-of-performance imagery and key metrics using sponsorship valuation and reporting software.
  • Support partner activation implementation in-arena during games, including setup and takedown.
  • Participate in select department meetings, brainstorming sessions, and select partner calls/meetings.

Partnership Operations & Fulfillment
  • Create and maintain various tracking systems for all Partnership contracts and assets, including radio, signage, print, tickets, suites, and autographed items.
  • Assist in the fulfillment of all autographed merchandise requests for the organization.
  • Assist with various non-hockey events off-site and at PPG Paints Arena.
  • Perform various office tasks, including preparing overnight mailings, copying, binding reports, and proofreading.

Special Projects & Professional Development
  • Lead or support special projects.
  • Learn corporate partnership sales and marketing strategies used by an NHL team to generate revenue for the organization.
  • Develop a working understanding of partnership sales, operations, and marketing tactics that deliver value to both the partner and the organization.
  • Strengthen professional skills in communication, presentation, networking, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants should have completed at least two years of college or demonstrate equivalent education, training, or relevant experience in a related field.
  • Ability to work in person at PPG Paints Arena.
  • Availability to work 30–40 hours per week, including game nights and weekends.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Interest in sports business, partnership marketing, sales, or a related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong research and presentation skills.
  • Interest in corporate partnerships and sponsorship activation.

Anticipated Internship Term: January 11th, 2027 - April 16th, 2027
Course Credit: Students remain eligible for earning course credits for their internship and will be responsible for ensuring that the internship meets the criteria of their program and/or university.
