Role Summary:

The Coordinator, Brand PR & Corporate Communications is a critical executional team member within the Brand & Communications department, responsible for bringing integrated communications strategies to life across earned, owned and social channels. This role supports the development, coordination and distribution of brand and business storytelling that strengthens the Chicago Blackhawks voice, deepens fan engagement and elevates organizational visibility.

This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, culturally relevant environment and is eager to build a career in sports communications and brand PR. The Coordinator plays a key role in translating strategy into action – ensuring campaigns, content and communications are delivered seamlessly on time and on brand. As a core support partner to the Manager, Brand PR & Corporate Communications, this role is primarily focused on execution, coordination and day-to-day operations of communications initiatives across the organization.

This role primarily supports all "off ice" initiatives across Marketing, Ticketing, Corporate Partnerships, Retail, Amateur Hockey and the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation. Please note: this position does not cover "on ice" Hockey Communications, but does support the broader communications team on gamedays.

Primary Responsibilities:

Brand Communications Execution & Support

  • Support the execution of integrated communications plans across key brand and/or business initiatives, including marketing campaigns, partnerships, community initiatives and organizational announcements.

  • Translate strategic direction from leadership into tactical deliverables, including timelines, content needs and distribution plans.

  • Assist in managing the brand/editorial calendar to ensure alignment across departments and channels.

  • Coordinate cross-functional workflows, timelines, approvals and other internal communications with Marketing, Social, Content & Creative and other departments to ensure seamless campaign delivery.

  • Maintain high standards of brand voice, tone and consistency across all communications.

  • Help maintain department processes, documentation and workflow tools to improve efficiency and consistency.

  • Support brand and communications planning processes by maintaining trackers, compiling performance metrics, developing recaps and preparing materials for recurring team and stakeholder review meetings.

Content & Storytelling

  • Draft and edit a wide range of communications materials, including press releases, media advisories, features, website copy and in-app messaging.

  • Develop supporting materials such as talking points, Q&As, fact sheets and backgrounders.

  • Contribute to broader storytelling efforts by supporting copywriting and content development across owned channels, with a digital-first mindset.

  • Own day-to-day editorial content publishing and updates across Blackhawks.com and the team’s mobile app — including press releases, news, feature stories, gameday coverage and video highlights — ensuring timely, accurate and engaging storytelling that reflects organizational priorities while maintaining brand voice and publishing deadlines.

  • Partner with the Sr. Coordinator, Lifecycle Marketing — who owns commercial fan journey touchpoints such as campaign landing pages and data-capture modules — to maintain a shared content calendar and aligned messaging for web and app content.

  • Maintain and optimize content within CMS platforms, ensuring best practices for formatting, SEO, tagging and overall user experience.

Media Relations & Publicity Reports

  • Support day-to-day media relations efforts, including distributing press materials and responding to media inquiries.

  • Coordinate logistics and communications for events such as press conferences, community events, partner activations and fan-facing initiatives.

  • Maintain and update media lists, press kits and internal communications resources.

  • Monitor media coverage, social conversation and cultural trends; compile regular reporting and insights for internal stakeholders.

  • Assist with pitching stories, coordinating interviews and supporting media opportunities to elevate brand visibility.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 1–2 years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing or a related field.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or similar discipline.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and understanding of AP style.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, digital content management systems and media monitoring tools.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment with tight deadlines.

  • Passion for sports, culture and storytelling.

  • Ability to adapt to occasional variations in schedule including working nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate based on the event calendar.

  • Must demonstrate our organizational values of integrity, curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and originality
