Major League Baseball is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Streaming & Subscriptions to help shape the future of how baseball content is discovered, organized, and experienced across MLB’s digital products. In this role, you will work on industry-leading streaming products that redefine how fans watch, listen to, and engage with America’s national pastime across Web, Mobile, and Connected Device platforms. This position focuses on improving how fans find and engage with live, linear, and on-demand baseball content across MLB’s digital ecosystem while working closely with engineering, design, content, operations, and business teams to build scalable product experiences and platform capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Build product vision, strategy, and roadmaps by synthesizing MLB business objectives, streaming strategy, platform needs, and fan experience goals into actionable steps and realistic deliverables for your scrum team
- Lead product work across content discovery and streaming experiences, including ways for fans to browse, find, and engage with live, linear, and on-demand content
- Partner with engineering, design, research, content, operations, and business stakeholders to define scalable product solutions that improve the fan experience and support new content and programming opportunities
- Help define product requirements for scalable platform capabilities that support consistent content experiences across Web, Mobile, and Connected Device platforms
- Document and prioritize a product backlog with epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, dependencies, sequencing, and clear success metrics
- Lead an Agile scrum team, forecast timelines, plan releases, coordinate cross-team deliverables, and manage dependencies across streaming, discovery, content operations, analytics, monetization, and platform teams
- Become a subject matter expert on MLB’s streaming ecosystem, including content discovery, playback experiences, content operations, monetization, analytics, and the fan journeys that connect them
- Partner closely with engineering on APIs, services architecture, system contracts, and platform tradeoffs, ensuring product requirements are technically sound, scalable, and aligned with long-term platform direction
- Work with internal teams to define how MLB presents and packages different content experiences across live, linear, and on-demand formats
- Use analytics, experimentation, research, and operational feedback to measure product performance, identify discovery opportunities, evaluate fan engagement, and prioritize product investments
- Create alignment between engineering, design, business stakeholders, content operations, advertising, analytics, and leadership; serve as the primary point of contact for product questions, tradeoffs, and clarifications
- Think like an owner to drive ideas forward from inception through execution, getting deeply embedded in the details and bridging gaps across teams where necessary to achieve target outcomes
- Create transparency and accountability with mechanisms to compile status, identify risks, escalate critical decisions, and communicate progress across complex, multi-month product initiatives
- Stay informed on the evolving streaming, connected TV, OTT, content discovery, and artificial intelligence/machine learning tooling landscape; identify opportunities to improve fan experiences, product workflows, operational efficiency, and development velocity
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of digital product management experience
- Solid understanding of a Scrum Product Owner role and experience working with engineering and Quality Assurance teams using agile methodologies
- Experience managing complex, cross-functional product initiatives that require coordination across multiple teams, systems, and stakeholder groups
- Hands-on familiarity with APIs, services architecture, platform capabilities, and infrastructure concepts; comfortable engaging directly with engineering on technical tradeoffs, system design decisions, and product contracts
- Reasonable technical understanding and an ability to translate technical requirements and specifications into easily understood business concepts and vice versa
- Experience developing requirement documents, user stories, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, user interaction diagrams, and clear acceptance criteria
- Experience using analytics and data to measure product performance, evaluate return on investment, and drive prioritization and design decisions
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative user research methods, with an ability to synthesize customer needs, stakeholder input, operational pain points, and technical constraints into a coherent product direction
- Strong communication skills and the ability to create alignment across engineering, design, business stakeholders, operations, and leadership
- Familiarity with streaming video concepts, including playback workflows, media metadata, entitlements, blackout restrictions, advertising, analytics, and content delivery
- Product or design experience using video, streaming, or content platforms to engage fans and consumers is a plus
- Experience managing products at scale across connected devices, including Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, game consoles, smart TVs, Web, iOS, and Android, is a plus
- Experience with content discovery, CMS-driven experiences, media metadata systems, personalization, merchandising tools, programming guides, or content platform services is a plus
- Experience with partner-facing APIs, media distribution workflows, rights metadata, or external content feeds is a plus
