POSITION SUMMARY:
The Retail Buyer is responsible for merchandise strategy, assortment planning, and purchasing across the Colorado Rockies’ retail portfolio, including Club-operated and third-party-operated locations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Track trends in consumer consumption to determine which products should be sold
- Evaluate prior sales to establish future fulfillment needs
- Understand all MLB licensing rules and individual vendors in terms or rights and restrictions.
- Placing purchase orders and track to established budget
- Attend tradeshows and conferences to stay abreast of industry standards
- Develop a retail buying OTB plan, by month and for whole season.
- Set Min/Max levels for core product – Working with all levels of Department to establish
- Track sell-through on all product purchased in current year. Report on potential re-orders or product that to be discontinued/discounted.
- Monthly communication with Retail Department staff to review incoming and educate on incoming product
- Direct communication with all retail warehouses on:
- Incoming product
- Priorities of product distribution
- Receiving queue
- Delivery accuracy and completeness
- Build allocations for all new products
- Create Purchase Orders, load product into POS sale system (Teamwork Commerce), adjust pricing, track purchasing, and adjust strategy as needed.
- Other responsibilities as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 3 years’ retail buying experience in a high-volume environment, including responsibility for an annual buying budget of at least $2 million and a complex assortment consisting of thousands of SKUs.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and functions such as XLOOKUP and VLOOKUP.
- Experience analyzing sales, inventory, and consumer trend data to make informed purchasing and replenishment decisions.
- Ability to develop and manage purchasing budgets, open-to-buy plans, inventory levels, and product sell-through.
- Effective organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple vendors, purchase orders, and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, vendors, stores, warehouse teams, and other business partners.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
- Experience working with licensed merchandise and understanding vendor rights and restrictions is preferred.
- Experience using point-of-sale or retail inventory management systems; experience with Teamwork Commerce is a plus.
- Experience buying merchandise within professional sports, entertainment, or another high-volume retail environment is preferred.
Work Schedule & Location
- This position is based at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and is primarily performed onsite due to the collaborative nature of the work, partner meetings, and game-day responsibilities. Limited remote work may be available in accordance with organizational policies and business needs.
- Typical office hours are Monday through Friday, 9-5. However, this position requires a flexible schedule based on business needs and the Major League Baseball season, including occasional game-day responsibilities.
- Annual travel to spring training facility in Scottsdale, AZ, tradeshows, and industry related conferences. Travel is cumulative for 1-2 weeks throughout the year.

Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation range is $70,000–$85,000 annually.
- This is a regular-status, full-time, exempt position. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the Colorado Rockies consider relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
