Job description
The person in this position is responsible for planning, directing and ensuring the medical and sports therapy needs of the Club.
The person oversees the entire sports medicine department, including athletic training, physiotherapy, massage therapy, and chiropractic.
It provides guidance on sports medical performance (physical preparation, sports science and nutrition) for the first team , the Academy and the Youth Development Programme; KEY RESPONSIBILITIES a0; Manage communication and relationship with the Chief Medical Officer and team physicians to ensure alignment and care of top players; Act as liaison between the Head Coach, Club Sports Management, Chief Medical Officer and players; Develop and implement the sports medical performance strategy; Work with the Sports Performance Manager to create collective and individualized performance plans to maximize athletes' physical capabilities; Establish club standards and protocols for sports medicine, including staff certifications and validation of incoming players; Guiding first-team and Academy coaching teams on player health and performance expectations and standards and ensuring continuous improvement in player performance.
Supervise a team of certified sports therapists.
Ensure compliance with all MLS and MLS next medical policies and protocols, as communicated by the League e and defined in the league operations manual.
Maintain a complete record of players' health and participation records/reports in the electronic medical record provided by the league, including but not limited to: first injury reports, player treatments, and return to play dates for various purposes (e.g., workers' compensation claims and research).
Contribute to pl anification, particularly in terms of budget, facilities and staff, as the team and/or the youth development programme grows; and liaising with the team's administrative staff regarding health and safety protocols.
Collaborate with Sport Performance Manager and Physiotherapist to develop collective and individual ch management planning arge.
Communicate player load planning to relevant coaching teams and Chief Medical Officer.
Act as a Certified Athletic Therapist by managing the health care of players in a safe manner and in accordance with OSHA requirements.
Healthcare includes but is not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury assessment, application of appropriate modalities, development of rehabilitation and prevention programmes, as well as the conduct of rehabilitation and referral to medical services.
Supervise athletic training and rehabilitation services for the Academy and advise on medical interventions or rehabilitation in complex or special cases.
Comply with OSHA standards for bloodborne pathogens.
Schedule Medical Examinations con formally to the requirements of the league regulations; initiate workers' compensation/insurance claims for players.
Comply with all MLS medical policies and protocols as well as the game day operations manual.
Any other related tasks.
