Job Title:         Professional Scout

Department: Player Personnel       

Reports To:    Assistant Director, Scouting

Available Regions:   North Carolina/South Carolina

 

Primary Objective:   Responsible for supporting and assisting the Assistant Director, Scouting in all facets of player evaluation.

 

Essential Functions:

• Evaluate players at varying levels of professional baseball.
• Maintain and update a comprehensive “Preference List” for the assigned coverage.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Mariners role system and apply it at all levels.
• Author and provide reports, preferences and recommendations in all forms of player acquisition (Trade, Free Agency, Rule 4 Draft, 6-Year Free Agency, etc.).
• Combine live looks with objective data, video, and player analysis tools.
• Regularly collaborate with scouting leadership in developing self-improvement plans in all areas, including goal planning and reviews.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Equivalent, relevant work experience would be considered.
• A minimum of two (2) years of scouting experience is strongly preferred, along with a proven ability to evaluate talent across all levels of amateur and professional baseball.

 

Physical Activities and Working Conditions:

• Travel required
• Must live within assigned region

Compensation Rate/Range:

The anticipated salary range for this role is $60,000-100,000 annually.
