Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Press Technician to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot Heidelberg offset printing presses. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience with Heidelberg equipment and a strong understanding of press systems and preventive maintenance practices. This role is critical to maximizing press uptime, extending equipment life, and ensuring presses run at peak performance for the production team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on Heidelberg offset presses
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including lubrication, calibration, and inspection of press components
  • Troubleshoot and resolve press downtime issues quickly to minimize impact on production schedules
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace worn or damaged parts (rollers, bearings, gears, belts, cylinders, etc.)
  • Maintain and calibrate press control systems and consoles
  • Coordinate with Heidelberg service representatives or outside vendors for major repairs, parts orders, or warranty work
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and parts usage documentation
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper handling of lubricants, solvents, and chemicals
  • Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies; notify supervisors of reorder needs
  • Support press operators by responding promptly to mechanical issues during production runs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing offset printing presses, preferably Heidelberg equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Working knowledge of offset press components and their function within the printing process
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service manuals
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems (motors, sensors, control panels) and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand/kneel for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
  • Heidelberg factory training or certification in press maintenance/service
  • Experience maintaining multiple press configurations (multi-color units, UV coating units, perfecting presses)
  • Experience with PLC systems or press control diagnostics
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, depending on shop needs
Work Environment
  • Pressroom and maintenance shop environment with exposure to noise, machinery, lubricants, and solvents
  • Use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves) required
  • May require shift work, including evenings, weekends, or on-call emergency repair support
