Pay Range: The pay range for this role is $25-$28 per hour
Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Position Overview
The Nutrition Operations Manager supports the daily delivery and operation of the organization’s nutrition and fueling programs across both NHL and AHL facilities. This position works closely with the Director of High Performance, sports dietitians, strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, medical staff, and foodservice team to ensure players have consistent access to appropriate meals, snacks, hydration products, supplements, and recovery nutrition.
The Nutrition Operations Manager also assists with implementing individualized nutrition strategies, maintaining fueling stations, preparing player supplements and recovery products, managing inventory, tracking nutrition related data, and supporting player education. This position requires strong organization, attention to detail, foundational sports nutrition knowledge, and the flexibility to work around practices, games, travel, camps, and changing team schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Nutrition Operations
- Prepare and portion snacks, pre-workout beverages, smoothies for players (pre/post-practice, games, travel if on away trip)
- Assist and collaborate with Team Performance Chef and foodservice team for meals and grab and go
- Set up locker room and practice facility fueling stations (hydration, snacks, supplements, recovery foods)
- Receive product deliveries, organize and stock items
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and proper storage
Player Support
- Help implement individualized nutrition plans created by the sports dietitian
- Educate players on hydration, recovery fueling, and supplement timing (within scope)
- Track player preferences, allergies, and dietary restrictions
- Assist with body composition, hydration or other diagnostic testing sessions
- Communicate with AHL (Cuda) staff to support player fueling and nutrition program needs
- Assist players for lab visits as needed
Data & Monitoring
- Log nutrition intake, supplement use, and hydration metrics
- Assist with tracking body weight, sweat rates, and recovery markers
- Maintain databases or software used by performance staff
Inventory Management and Ordering
- Track and manage full nutrition inventory across both facilities
- Maintain stock levels for all supplements, snacks, and hydration products
- Coordinate ordering (Amazon and approved vendors) and occasional grocery shopping
- Monitor usage trends and adjust ordering accordingly
- Communicate with kitchen staff on smoothie station needs and restocking
- Ensure seamless product availability across practice and game environments
- Pack and transport supplements, snacks, and hydration supplies
Supplement Management
- Prepare and distribute daily player supplement packs
- Create and manage specialized packs:
- Immune support packs
- Sleep/recovery packs
- Game day fueling packs
- Travel packs
- Ensure compliance and consistency across players
- Inventory and restock supplements (protein, electrolytes, vitamins)
- Ensure third-party tested / safe-for-sport products
- Prepare individualized supplement packs for players
Daily/Weekly Operational Flow
- Practice Days (Tech CU Arena)
- Arrive, assess and restock fueling stations
- Prep smoothie station and ingredients
- Prepare post-practice smoothies
- Refill player supplement packs as needed
- Connect with players (quick check-ins, adjustments)
- Coordinate with staff on player-specific needs
- Track inventory + note items for reorder
Game Days (SAP Center)
- Pre-game:
- Set up locker room fueling station
- Prepare player-specific drinks and snacks
- Organize supplements and fueling products
- During game:
- Respond to player requests in real time
- Adjust fueling strategies as needed
- Post-game:
- Prepare recovery smoothies
- Distribute sleep/recovery supplements
- Reset and restock for next game
Additional Duties:
- Attend and assist at all Development Camp and Main Camp Dates
Minimum Qualifications
- Organization and logistics
- Attention to detail (food safety, supplements)
- Communication with athletes and staff
- Flexibility (schedule changes)
- Foundational sports nutrition knowledge
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
- Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
- Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
- Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
- Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
- May be required to travel to other company locations
- May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
