The Network Engineer 1 supports the integrity, security, and optimization of the corporate and stadium network infrastructure under the direction of the Network Engineer.  This role focuses on day to day monitoring, maintenance, and trouble shooting of all wired and wireless network devices and the software included to manage these devices. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Monitors all network devices to ensure all systems are running correctly and effectively.
  • Assists with Next-Gen firewall monitoring and change requests under senior review
  • Responds quickly to any outages and restores functionality to minimize downtime and impact on staff.
  • Assists with audit remediation tasks as assigned
  • Documents physical and logical network designs for review by senior engineering staff.
  • Reviews logs and monitoring applications to check for irregularities or potential issues with network related devices.
  • Works closely with existing support vendors on day to day support tickets
  • Deploys upgrades and patches to network devices during a monthly maintenance window.
  • Confirms all devices are working correctly and are optimized for maximum performance.
  • Supports large scale stadium events by supplying hard line internet connections when requested.
  • Works closely with IT teams to ensure all requests are met and events run to specifications and smoothly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Abilities and Skills:

  • Motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to independently resolve routine network issues and escalate complex or ambiguous problems to senior engineering staff.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical staff and stadium event partners.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and documentation standards accurately, including change management and maintenance window protocols.
  • Ability to preve planned objectives through completing relevant tasks and focus.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively, while balancing and prioritizing multiple or competing tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing logs, monitoring aioritize and manage multiple routine tasks (monitoring, ticket response, patch deployment) under time pressure, particularly during live stadium events.
  • Ability to achilerts, and documenting network configurations for senior review.
  • Communicates orally and in writing in a clear, concise and impartial manner.

 

Education and Experience:

  • At least 2 years' relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CCNA or equivalent Cisco certification desirable; CCNP, GIAC, ISC2 or ISACA a plus.
  • Experience supporting or implementing a converged network in a Cisco environment, including wireless, firewalls, routers, and switches, using best practices.
  • Working knowledge of L2 protocols including STP, DHCP, 802.1X, LACP, MLAG, VLANs.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco networks including Wi-Fi spectrums, channels and troubleshooting, along with foundational experience with OSPF and IPSec.
  • Familiarity with other network protocols and methods, including Traffic Engineering, NAT, TCP/IP, Multicast, and IPv6.
  • Proficient in packet analysis with documented experience.
  • Experience working in an enterprise datacenter environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues across a wide variety of devices.

Travel:

10% of travel time expected for the position.

 

Compensation: 
$125,000 - $135,000 annually
