The Dominican Republic Minor League Pitching Coach is responsible for the development, preparation, and daily coaching of pitchers based at the Miami Marlins Dominican Republic Academy. This role works closely with the Director of Pitching, Player Development leadership, Dominican Republic staff, and other members of Baseball Operations to implement the organization’s pitching philosophy and individualized player development plans.

 Essential Functions

February through October:
·         Pitcher Development: Lead the daily development and coaching of pitchers assigned to the Dominican Republic Academy, with an emphasis on long-term individual development.
·         Individual Development Plans: Collaborate with pitching leadership and Player Development staff to create, implement, and monitor individualized development plans for each pitcher.
·         Organizational Pitching Philosophy: Implement the Miami Marlins’ organizational pitching philosophy, ensuring consistent terminology, teaching methods, and development standards.
·         Daily Coaching & Instruction: Plan and execute bullpens, throwing programs, pitch-design sessions, game preparation, and other pitching-related training activities.
·         Pitching Analysis & Technology: Utilize available technology, video, pitch-tracking data, biomechanics, and performance metrics to evaluate pitchers and support player development.
·         Player Relationships: Build strong relationships with players and communicate development goals and feedback in a clear, consistent, and actionable manner.
·         Game Preparation & Evaluation: Assist pitchers with game planning and preparation while evaluating in-game performance and identifying areas for continued development.
·         Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with strength and conditioning, medical, performance science, video, analytics, and Player Development staff to provide comprehensive support for each player.
·         Player Progress & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of pitcher development and regularly communicate player progress, challenges, and recommendations to pitching and Player Development leadership.
·         Continuous Learning: Stay current on pitching development trends, technology, biomechanics, training methods, and coaching strategies while contributing to a collaborative learning environment across the organization.
·         Academy Culture: Help create a positive, professional, and development-focused environment that reinforces organizational standards and supports young players as they begin their professional careers.
 

November through January:
·         Off-Season Development: Collaborate with pitching leadership and performance staff to create and oversee individualized off-season development plans for pitchers.
·         Monitor Player Progress: Maintain communication with players and appropriate staff to track off-season throwing, strength, conditioning, and development goals.
·         Program Adjustments: Evaluate player progress and collaborate with appropriate staff to make adjustments to development plans when necessary.
·         Organizational Collaboration: Participate in pitching department meetings, professional development opportunities, and planning for the upcoming season.
·         Off-Season Camps: Participate in instructional camps, development programs, or other organizational initiatives in the Dominican Republic or United States as assigned.

Skills Requirements
·         Previous playing, coaching, or player development experience in professional, collegiate, or high-level amateur baseball preferred.
·         Strong understanding of pitching mechanics, throwing programs, and pitcher development.
·         Ability and willingness to learn and utilize pitching technology, video, data, and analytical tools.
·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build meaningful relationships with young players.
·         Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary Player Development environment.
·         Demonstrated commitment to continued learning and professional development.
·         Ability to work a professional baseball schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.
·         Ability to live and work in the Dominican Republic for the duration of the assignment.
·         Spanish-language proficiency strongly preferred.
·         Experience working with Latin American players or within an international baseball environment preferred.
