Job Description:
Summary:
The Life Skills & Minor League Operations Assistant equips Minor League players with the practical skills, knowledge, and support necessary to succeed on and off the field. This role delivers individualized guidance and educational programming focused on independent living, cultural adaptation, and personal development while fostering a positive transition into professional baseball.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach independent living skills, including financial literacy, housing, transportation, healthcare, and daily life management
- Mentor players through cultural, social, and language transitions to support successful integration into professional baseball and local communities
- Develop and facilitate life skills workshops aligned with organizational and player development goals
- Provide one-on-one coaching to address personal, professional, and adjustment-related challenges
- Collaborate with Player Development, Coaching, Medical, Mental Performance, and Education staff to support holistic player development
- Monitor player engagement and maintain accurate documentation, including identification, visas, driver's licenses, and other compliance-related records, while ensuring confidentiality
- Conduct routine inspections of team housing to ensure apartments and player living spaces comply with organizational living standards, safety requirements, and cleanliness expectations
- Serve as a primary administrative contact for player housing questions, requests, and updates
- Assist with housing assignments, move-in and move-out logistics, lease documentation, roommate information, and related records
- Maintain accurate housing trackers, contact lists, occupancy records, and supporting documentation. Help communicate housing policies, expectations, deadlines, and procedures to players and staff
- Support problem-solving for maintenance requests, access issues, billing questions, and other day-to-day housing matters
- Assist players with expense reimbursement submissions, including collecting receipts, verifying required information, and ensuring submissions are complete
- Provide general administrative support to Minor League Operations leadership and staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Human Services, Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field preferred
- Associate degree with relevant experience may be considered
- 1–3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
