Position Overview:

The International Scout, DR plays a key role in our amateur talent acquisition process by providing detailed information on players’ baseball and physical capabilities and projecting their future impact as Major League Players, following the organizational guidelines. The scout oversees all baseball-related scouting activities within the assigned territory and communicates frequently with international scouting leadership about players of interest.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate prospects’ current and future baseball and physical capabilities following the organizational guidelines.
  • Oversee all baseball-related scouting activities within the assigned territory.
  • Communicate frequently with international scouting department leadership about players of interest.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with agents and their families within the assigned territory.
  • Conduct evaluations of players' background and makeup.
  • Plan and organize workouts for the department leadership to evaluate players.
  • Combine live scouting, video review, data, and technology to strengthen player assessments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in professional baseball, either as a player at the professional level or working in a front office, scouting department, player development staff, or development academy.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating amateur or professional baseball talent and projecting players' future ability.
  • Working knowledge of baseball data and technology tools such as Trackman, Blast Motion, Synergy, or comparable systems.
  • Prior experience interacting professionally with scouts, agents, trainers, players, and front office personnel.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and a strong communicator.
  • Must be active, quick-thinking, and a troubleshooter.
  • Must have the ability to work with and protect highly confidential information.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • English speaking skills are valued.
  • Familiarity with the Dominican amateur baseball landscape, including trainers, programs, and showcase events.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand and walk in hot conditions for long periods of time.
