POSITION OVERVIEW:
New York City FC is seeking a Director, Facility Security to lead the development and operation of physical security and life safety programs for Etihad Park, the Club's new stadium scheduled to open in 2027, as well as support security operations at City Football Academy (CFA) in Orangeburg, New York.
Reporting to the Vice President of Safety and Security, this position will play a key role in the design, integration, commissioning, and operational readiness of Etihad Park's security infrastructure during the construction and pre-opening phases and will transition into leadership of the stadium's ongoing facility security operations.
The Director will be responsible for protecting the stadium's physical infrastructure and leading its non-event facility security program. Areas of responsibility will include the Security Operations Center (SOC), physical security systems, access control, screening operations, fire/life safety, target hardening and threat mitigation, facility investigations, and emergency preparedness. The Director will work closely with internal stakeholders, construction and design teams, Major League Soccer, technology partners, and public-safety agencies to develop and maintain a safe, secure, and resilient environment at Etihad Park.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead security design and integration for Etihad Park through construction, commissioning, and opening, overseeing the stadium's SOC, CCTV, access control, alarms, screening, and related security technology.
- Lead non-event facility security operations at Etihad Park, including the 24/7 SOC and assigned personnel and resources; establish standards for monitoring, communications, alarm response, incident escalation, and documentation.
- Oversee screening, access control, and perimeter security, including staff and contractor entrances, loading docks, deliveries, vehicle access, and restricted areas.
- Develop and maintain target-hardening and threat-reduction strategies, including hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) and counter-UAS capabilities, based on identified threats and vulnerabilities.
- Oversee fire/life safety and emergency readiness at Etihad Park, and assist the Vice President of Safety and Security with drills, tabletop exercises, functional exercises, and full-scale exercises.
- Lead or oversee investigations of facility security incidents, including unauthorized access, security breaches, theft, and other security violations, and ensure appropriate follow-up and corrective action.
- Develop and maintain facility security policies, procedures, post orders, and operational standards, continuously evaluating security operations and emerging threats.
- Coordinate security planning and implementation with architects, engineers, construction teams, technology partners, vendors, MLS, and public-safety agencies to integrate security into Etihad Park's design and operations.
- Provide leadership and oversight to personnel and resources assigned to facility security and support physical security operations at City Football Academy (CFA) in Orangeburg, New York.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in physical security, facility security, law enforcement, public safety, or a related field, including leadership of complex security operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading security personnel, operations, and resources in a complex or high-profile environment.
- Strong knowledge of physical security principles and technologies, including access control, CCTV, alarm systems, security operations centers, screening, perimeter security, and target hardening.
- Experience developing and implementing security policies, procedures, operational standards, and incident-response protocols.
- Experience with emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, incident response, and drills or exercises.
- Experience conducting or overseeing security investigations and assessing threats, risks, and vulnerabilities, with the ability to develop practical mitigation measures.
- Strong communication, leadership, judgment, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public-safety partners.
- Prior experience in a stadium, arena, professional sports, major entertainment venue, critical infrastructure, or similarly complex environment and/or prior law enforcement experience is preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC.
- Must be able to work schedules that may include nights, weekends, and holidays in support of facility security operations.
- This position requires the ability to work effectively across a variety of environments, including active construction sites, stadium spaces, office environments, security operations centers, and training facilities.
- Must be able to navigate active construction and operational environments, which may include stairs, ramps, uneven surfaces, temporary access routes, and areas requiring personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to operate computers, security management systems, communications equipment, access-control platforms, CCTV systems, and other standard office and security technology.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, vendors, public-safety agencies, MLS representatives, and other stakeholders in both routine and emergency situations.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments, tolerating exposure to varying weather conditions, construction activity, noise, crowds, and other conditions associated with stadium operations.
COMPENSATION:
This exempt position has an estimated annual base salary range of $130,000 - $140,000 and is not overtime eligible. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
