Who are we hiring? 
The Coordinator of Events will support the planning, coordination, and execution of events across CPKC Stadium, Current Landing, and the Kansas City Current Sports Complex, while serving as the lead event manager for assigned events. This role will work closely with the Director of Event Management, Manager of Events (Current Landing), Manager of Private Events, and Coordinator of Events at the Sports Complex to support NWSL match days, private events, district activations, community programming, and internal organizational events. Based on event needs and team workload, the coordinator will manage assigned events from planning through execution and/or serve as the day-of event manager. The Coordinator will coordinate event logistics and internal requests, maintain operational documentation, and schedule Event Operations Assistants to support event delivery across club facilities. This position requires initiative, the ability to work independently and follow through on tasks, and strong collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure events are properly staffed and prepared for successful execution.

What will you do?  
Includes but not limited to: 
  • Support the Event Management team in the planning, coordination, and execution of events across CPKC Stadium, Current Landing, and the Kansas City Current Sports Complex, including match days, private events, district activations, internal organizational events, and tournaments and other special events at the Sports Complex.
  • Serve as the lead event manager for assigned events, managing planning through execution from start to finish and/or serving as the day-of event manager, based on event needs and Event Management team workload.
  • Serve as the initial intake point for front office event requests and venue access needs, coordinating logistics for vendor visits, internal meetings, and operational walkthroughs across all club facilities
  • Assist the Event Management team with calendar management and scheduling to ensure accurate communication of event timelines, planning, scheduling and operational needs across departments.
  • Coordinate with internal departments including Security, Guest Services, Parking, Ticketing, Stadium Operations, and Food & Beverage to support stadium movement, access control, and event readiness.
  • Support the development and maintenance of event documentation, including event outlines, operational plans, run-of-show timelines, and internal event briefings.
  • Assist in building and maintaining event maps, operational diagrams, and guest flow plans for events across CPKC Stadium, Current Landing and the Kansas City Current Sport Complex.
  •  Support the creation, organization, and continuous improvement of event standard operating procedures (SOPs) including match day roles, operational workflows, and internal event processes.
  • Maintain and organize event planning files, operational documentation, and event archives to ensure consistent communication and documentation across the Event Management department.
  • Assist with match day preparation, including coordinating operational logistics, scheduling event operations support staff, coordinating ball kid program logistics, developing timelines, updating operational documentation, and distributing internal communications to ensure departments are informed and prepared for match day activities.
  • Provide event planning and operational support at the Kansas City Current Sports Complex (including Riverside Stadium) as assigned based on event needs and department workload.
  • Support event preparation and day-of operations, coordinating with operational departments as assigned.
  • Monitor event spaces for cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness before, during, and after events.
  • Assist with post-event documentation and operational feedback to support continuous improvement of event operations.
  • Support the Manager, Private Events and Manager, Events (Current Landing), as well as the Director of Event Management, with administrative and operational tasks as needed.
  • Remain informed on all events occurring within CPKC Stadium, Current Landing and the Kansas City Current Sports Complex to assist with cross-department coordination and internal communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
What do you need to succeed?  
Required
  • 1-2 years of experience in event operations, venue operations, hospitality, or event coordination.
  • Experience supporting the planning or execution of live events or public-facing events in a venue, hospitality, sports, or entertainment environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced, event-driven environment, managing multiple projects, anticipating needs, and following tasks through to completion with minimal supervision while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing event needs and operational priorities.
 
Preferred
  • Experience coordinating with vendors, restaurants, tenant partners, or third-party service providers.
  • Familiarity with event logistics including crowd management, security coordination, and event production elements.
  • Background in hospitality or food and beverage operations, preferably supporting events, catering, or service within a venue environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field.

    Special requirements of the Job:
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
  • Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives. 
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
  • Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
  • Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
  • Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
