Major League Baseball is looking for a Coordinator, Athletic Sales & Operations in the Sales & Athletics department to assist with day-to-day oversight and coordination of all athletic events taking place at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC). The Coordinator, Athletic Sales & Operations assists with the development, sales, and operation of JRTC-owned youth tournaments and assists with sales and business development among amateur and professional athletic organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Coordinator, Athletic Sales & Operations in oversight of all athletic events at the JRTC, including but not limited to baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, football, and rugby
  • Assist with the development, sales, and coordination of all JRTC-owned youth tournaments
  • Help oversee the day-to-day on-field operations of the JRTC College Spring Invitational and High School Spring Training programs
  • Act as a liaison between the Sales & Athletics department and onsite clients
  • Hire, onboard, schedule, and supervise scorekeepers
  • Assist with coordination of Spring “taxi squad” umpires including onboarding, transportation, scheduling, and payroll
  • Research and compile mailing/email blast lists of coaches, managers, athletic department personnel, and other such contacts for distributing sales collateral materials for athletic events
  • Collaborate with MLB/JRTC tech team to ensure baseball technology systems such as Trackman, Hawkeye, and Yakkertech are functioning properly and scheduled for client needs
  • Serve as a liaison between JRTC and its live streaming provider to provide superior guest service and schedules
  • Assist the Senior Coordinator, Athletic Sales & Operations with sales outreach including phone calls to amateur, high school, collegiate, and professional athletic organizations
  • Serve as a liaison to the Major League Baseball (MLB) baseball and softball development and youth programs staff, performing any duties assigned by them
  • Communicate athletic event information to Event Planning department for use on function sheets
  • Create and manage all athletic events on League Apps to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Properly handle any on-field incidents that occur, fill out incident report forms, and report to management
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Coordinator, Athletic Sales & Operations

Qualifications & Skills

  • The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience and education
  • The preferred candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working in athletic operations
  • Candidate must be a professional self-starter who will work as a team player and will also be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage one’s own time and the time of others; supervisory experience of at least 1 year preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of the game of baseball
  • Experience working in professional or amateur baseball preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of stakeholders
  • Ability to remain calm and make reasonable decisions under pressure
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and excellent driving record
  • Ability to use typical office equipment
  • Ability to lift boxes and equipment on occasion up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to pull tarp when necessary

The Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) located in Vero Beach, Florida, serves as a year-round hub for amateur development initiatives and events designed to diversify and strengthen the talent pipelines of baseball and softball.
