Position Title: Basketball Operations Intern

Department: Basketball Operations

Reports to: Manager of Scouting

FLSA: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Program Period: October – End of 2026-27 Sacramento Kings Season

 

Job Summary: Join the Sacramento Kings as a Basketball Operations Intern and support our front office in player personnel, scouting, and analytics projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain entry-level experience in an NBA front office while contributing to projects that shape the Kings' success in the NBA Draft, free agency, and trades. You'll be responsible for a range of tasks, from securing tickets for scouts to organizing scouting calendars and conducting data research. This position may require unconventional hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, and calls for candidates who are proactive, deadline-driven problem solvers capable of handling sensitive information.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sacramento Kings front office with scouting and analytics projects.

  • Secure tickets and credentials for amateur, collegiate, and professional basketball events.

  • Conduct data entry projects using Excel or CSV.

  • Organize and co-manage prospect lists, scouting documents, and the scouting calendar.

  • Utilize video platforms like Synergy, HUDL, and Hoop 1 to prepare materials for the front office.

  • Assist with meeting preparation, including materials, notetaking, and coordinating food and beverages.

  • Meet deadlines, performance goals, and benchmarks.

  • Represent the Kings in a professional manner while maintaining confidentiality.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 2+ years of team operations experience is a plus.

  • Extensive knowledge of amateur, collegiate, and/or professional basketball.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Previous experience with video platforms such as Synergy, HUDL, and/or Hoop 1 is preferred.

  • Flexibility to work unconventional hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication techniques.

 

To qualify for Kings University internships, you must be:

  • Currently enrolled in college or have graduated within 12 months

  • Able to commute to the downtown Sacramento office

  • Able to work up to 25 hours per week

 

Interns will be compensated $17.50 per hour and receive benefits such as California Paid Sick Leave, discounts on Sacramento Kings merchandise, and free parking.
