Job Summary: Assist the Coordinator, Minor League Nutrition, in leveraging their knowledge and training to plan, organize, and execute affiliate performance nutrition.

Minimum Requirements:
Education:
  • Valid CDR Registered Dietitian Credential Required
  • Master’s Degree in Nutrition Science, Food Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field, preferred
Experience :
  • 1-2+ years of experience in Performance NutritionServSafe Food Handler’s Certification, or completion on hire.
Skills :
  • Ability to apply up-to-date evidence-based nutrition interventions to promote health and performance.
  • Independent judgment and ability to multitask are required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of departments, seniority levels, and personalities.

  •  Spoken and written fluency in English. Spanish-speaking preferred.

  • Willing to relocate. Position is based in the Dominican Republic, with monthly travel (3-7 days) and Low-A (Daytona Beach, FL) during the Minor League Season. Attendance in AZ for Spring Training is required. Coverage of offseason camps in the Dominican Republic is required.
  • FL State RD licensure is required within 90 days of hire required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Nutrition Program & Affiliate Support – 40%
  • Oversee administration of the Cincinnati Reds Nutrition Program for the Low-A affiliates and Dominican Republic operations.
  • Travel to the Low-A Daytona Beach to conduct individual nutrition programming for players’ health and performance, provide group education, and evaluate clubhouse meal and snack offerings.
  • Maintain communication with affiliate Health & Performance staff to support individual player routines and team nutrition needs.
  • Collaborate with the Minor League Nutrition Coordinator regarding player allergies, injury modifications, supplementation, documentation, and individualized circumstances.
  • Support implementation of organizational nutrition philosophies and best practices across assigned affiliates.
Player Nutrition Counseling, Assessment, & Education – 40%
  • Develop and implement evidence-based performance nutrition initiatives to increase player knowledge and address needs through regular individual counseling, team education, presentations, and media.
  • Maintain documentation of nutrition services provided, player observations, education sessions, effectiveness of strategies, and action plans to improve player health and performance.
  • Perform regular nutrition assessments for all assigned players during the calendar year.
  • Utilize medical nutrition therapy principles to address clinical concerns within the athlete population, including diabetes, lipid management, Vitamin D and bone health via DEXA, and disordered eating patterns.
  • Provide injury-specific food and supplement recommendations in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Implement nutrition initiatives designed to improve player performance, recovery, and long-term health habits.
  • Promote organizational nutrition standards and healthy lifestyle practices throughout the player development system.
  • Perform daily hydration testing and provide corrective actions based on departmental protocols
Food Service & Vendor Coordination – 10%:
  • Ensure proper food safety and sanitation standards are maintained at assigned affiliates.
  • Maintain communication with managers and field coordinators, catering coordinator, clubhouse managers, and vendors regarding menus, meal schedules, and dietary restrictions.
  • Monitor menu offerings to ensure alignment with organizational nutrition objectives.
  • Provide leadership and performance oversight for the foodservice provider in the Dominican Republic, fostering a collaborative effort for sport performance-centered offerings, inclusive of all cultures
Supplementation & Inventory Management – 10%:
  • Proficiency in evaluation and recommendation of NSF Certified for Sport® supplements.
  • Assist with supplement recommendations and monitoring in accordance with organizational guidelines and appropriate usage.
  • Assist with resource allocation and budget adherence for assigned affiliates

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (equipment, food, etc.).
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, and climb stairs regularly in the course of daily duties
  • Comfortable working in varying conditions (heat, humidity, cold, outdoors, confined spaces like locker rooms).
  • Ability to handle repetitive tasks such as equipment setup.
  • Sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for tasks like organizing equipment, using computer programs and performing inventory.
  • Ability to remain on feet to work long and variable hours, including weekends and holidays.
