Job description

THE POSITION
Our roster has an opening with your name on it

We are looking for an experienced analytics leader to manage our Fraud, Payments & Operations Analytics team, working with partners across FanDuel to understand the risk, payment, and operational dynamics that shape the business and drive smarter, faster decisions. You’ll lead a team of analysts whose work translates complex data — spanning fraud patterns and payment performance, and extending into internal controls, our Core Products and Experiences functions (account, wallet, and more), and other internal business functions — into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders across the company.

As the Advanced Analytics Manager, you will guide your team’s deep expertise in fraud and payments analytics while extending that same rigor across the broader operational landscape — always balancing protection of the company and our customers with an exceptional customer experience — partnering closely with risk, payments, and operations stakeholders to shape decisions rather than simply monitor or report on them. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, exceptional analytical skills, and a track record of developing analytical talent. This position is based out of New York and has hybrid work-from-home flexibility.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Lead a team of analysts focused on fraud, payments, and the drivers of operational performance across the business
  • Own a portfolio of complex, high-visibility analyses — serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and managing timelines and deliverables
  • Apply advanced analytics techniques to identify trends and insights firsthand, setting the technical bar for the team’s work
  • Manage the day-to-day work and tasks for your direct reports, ensuring projects and resources stay aligned with departmental priorities
  • Own the accuracy and quality of team output — reviewing analyses, models, and reporting, and ensuring they’re complete, refreshed, and stakeholder-ready before communication
  • Provide management, coaching, and professional development to analysts on your team, tailoring your approach across a range of experience levels
  • Shape team strategy and ways of working — identifying process improvements and evolving the team’s analytical approach as business priorities shift
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including risk, payments, and Core Products and Experiences (CPE), to understand business needs and guide your team’s development of analytics solutions to address them
  • Partner with data engineering, product, and governance teams to ensure data quality, integration, and accessibility for fraud, payments, and operations analytics initiatives

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 5+ years' experience in an analytics role preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, etc.) or relevant experience in data and/or business analysis
  • 1+ years managing and coaching analysts, data scientists and/or data engineers
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel required; additional proficiency with Python or R preferred
  • Experience with Databricks SQL, Delta Lake, Notebooks, and BI visualization tools for data analysis, query optimization, and collaborative workflows
  • Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau, with a track record of creating impactful dashboards and reports
  • Proficiency with at least one of the following (multiple a strong advantage):
    • Experience in fraud detection, risk scoring, or payments analytics, using data to identify anomalous behavior and quantify financial exposure
    • Experience analyzing operational or process data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or control gaps across internal business functions
    • Experience using a variety of modelling and analytical approaches — including forecasting, classification, and anomaly detection — to inform fraud, payments, and operations decisions
  • Ability to communicate technical insights to non-technical stakeholders; demonstrable track record of influencing stakeholders and colleagues
  • Strong problem-solving skills, allied with track record of transforming data into actionable business insight
  • Strong personal organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple complex projects
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload for a team of direct reports
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a lot of ambiguity
  • Prior experience in fraud, payments, or financial risk roles — within gaming, fintech, or financial services — a strong plus
  • Knowledge of sports betting and online gambling a huge plus
