Job Description

MLSE 50|50 is one of the largest and most impactful charitable lottery programs in Canada. Operating at Toronto Maple Leafs, Raptors, Argonauts, Toronto FC, Marlies, and other marquee events, the program raises millions of dollars each year in support of youth-focused community initiatives through MLSE Foundation.

Working as a 50|50 Team Lead means playing a key role in bringing the program to life on event days. You’ll lead and support a team of 50|50 Ambassadors, help drive sales and fan engagement, and make sure the operation runs smoothly from the moment the team arrives until the final ticket is sold.

If you’re a natural leader who thrives in high-energy environments, enjoys working with people, and takes pride in creating a great team and fan experience, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while being part of some of Toronto’s biggest sports and entertainment events.

Position Type: Part time Contract until June 2027

Role Overview

Reporting to the program’s Staff Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the 50|50 team during live events. You’ll help set the tone for the team, coach Ambassadors throughout the event, monitor sales and performance, and work with the Operations Supervisor to ensure the 50|50 runs smoothly.

You’ll be a key point of contact between the Ambassadors and management, helping turn program goals into action on the floor while creating a positive, energetic, and accountable team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of 50|50 Ambassadors during games and events.
  • Set the tone for a positive, energetic, and inclusive team environment.
  • Support Ambassadors with sales techniques, fan engagement, and program knowledge.
  • Set up 50|50 kiosks, devices, signage, and other equipment before and after events.
  • Be comfortable with physical event-day work, including lifting, carrying, transporting, and organizing equipment and supplies throughout the venue.
  • Constantly identify opportunities to improve processes and results of the program.
  • Communicate sales updates and key information to Ambassadors throughout the event.
  • Coach Ambassadors in real time and provide feedback to help them build confidence and improve their performance.
  • Support onboarding and training of new Ambassadors, including helping team members become comfortable with sales devices and program processes.
  • Assist with device distribution, collection, troubleshooting, and ensuring equipment is accounted for before and after events.
  • Help ensure Ambassadors are properly positioned, prepared, and ready to sell throughout the event.
  • Represent MLSE Foundation and the 50|50 program in a professional, enthusiastic, and fan-first manner.

Venue & Scheduling Requirements (Important)

One of the best parts of the job? You’ll get to work inside some of Toronto’s biggest sports and entertainment venues. You should be comfortable working across MLSE venues, including:

  • Scotiabank Arena
  • BMO Field
  • Coca-Cola Coliseum

Events fall primarily during evenings, including on weekends and holidays. We’re looking for people who can commit to working approximately 80% of available events in a given month, while enjoying the flexibility of an event-based role.

As a Team Lead, you’ll also need to be comfortable arriving before events and staying through the end of the event to support setup, training, sales execution, and closeout.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who:

  • Are natural leaders who enjoy motivating and supporting others.
  • Bring positive energy and enthusiasm to a busy event environment.
  • Are confident communicating with groups and individuals.
  • Are organized, reliable, and able to stay calm when things get busy.
  • Enjoy working toward goals and motivating a team to achieve them.
  • Are comfortable using technology and learning new systems and devices.
  • Take initiative and can identify problems before they become bigger issues.
  • Enjoy sports, live entertainment, and being part of a team.
  • Are comfortable working on their feet and moving throughout the venue during an event.
  • Have experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, events, or team leadership - but we’re most interested in people who bring the right attitude, energy, and willingness to learn.

Why Work With MLSE 50|50

  • Work at some of Toronto’s biggest events - Leafs, Raptors, TFC, Argos, Marlies, 905, concerts, and more.
  • Take on a leadership role within one of Canada’s largest charitable lottery programs.
  • Build valuable leadership, sales, communication, and event management experience.
  • Work alongside a fun, social, and high-energy team.
  • Develop your coaching and people-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be part of the atmosphere at some of the city’s most exciting venues.
  • Make a difference by helping raise funds for youth and community initiatives through MLSE Foundation.
  • Enjoy flexible, event-based work that fits around your schedule.
