Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market platform. We enable individuals to express views on real-world events by trading on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. Built as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized \"house,\" Polymarket aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future.
We're growing fast, both in terms of volume ($21B traded in 2025) and adoption as an alternative news source. Our ambition is to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media and we need your help adding fuel to the fire.
Polymarket is looking for a Staff Android Engineer to help build a world-class trading app on Android. Millions of users follow markets, track positions, and make trades on their phones — and the Android experience needs to match that level of engagement.
This is a high-ownership, high-influence role for someone who has operated at the staff level before and knows what it means to shape a platform, not just build on it. You'll set the technical direction for Android at Polymarket, raise the bar across the codebase, and help take a product that's already at scale to the next level.
Set the technical direction for Android at Polymarket, making and owning architectural decisions that the team builds around
Build and own Android features spanning payments flows, real-time market data, and core UI with full accountability from design handoff through to production
Implement polished, performant interfaces with Jetpack Compose that hold up under real trading conditions and meet a high bar for feel and reliability
Own CI/CD pipelines and Gradle configuration, keeping the build fast and the release process reliable as the team and product grow
Build and maintain integrations across WebSockets, gRPC, and streaming data to power the live market features traders depend on
Operate as a technical leader across a distributed team: communicate clearly, make decisions without hand-holding, and raise the engineering bar through code reviews and strong engineering standards
Actively incorporate AI tools into your development workflow to move faster and maintain a high output bar
Identify and address gaps in Android architecture and engineering practices before they become problems at scale
Significant Android engineering experience, with a track record of owning and shaping Android platforms at scale, not just contributing to them
Strong, current expertise in Kotlin with the ability to speak concretely to tradeoffs and make architectural calls with confidence
Deep experience building production UI with Jetpack Compose and a high bar for performance and polish
Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and Gradle build configuration end-to-end
Solid understanding of modern Android architecture with the judgment to evolve it as the product scales
A track record of technical leadership: you've influenced how an engineering team works, not just what it ships
Active use of AI tools in your development workflow, not occasionally, but as a real part of how you work
(Plus) Experience integrating payments on Android
(Plus) Experience with WebSockets, gRPC, or other real-time data patterns on mobile
(Plus) Familiarity with cross-platform shared-code architectures
(Plus) iOS or Swift experience
(Plus) Background at a larger, more mature engineering organization where you saw and shaped practices as the company grew

Hardware setup: new MacBook Pro, big display, & accessories
Base salary range: $250,000 to $500,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.
