Social Media Coordinator
The Social Media Coordinator will support the Mavericks content team by ideating, creating, publishing and tracking highly-engaging social media content. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of how people digest and engage with social content, an eye for detail and stay up-to-date on cultural trends and industry best practices. The position will report to the Senior Social Media Manager and will collaborate with the entire content team around team coverage, tentpole events, sponsorships, influencer marketing and more.
Specific Functions/Activities Summary
- Assist in managing, publishing, ideating and creating content for the Mavericks’ official accounts and auxiliary accounts.
- Serve as the community manager for Mavericks social, finding unique and innovative ways to cultivate, sustain and engage existing and new audiences
- Build and maintain content calendars for Dallas Mavericks social media platforms.
- Liaise with Sponsorship on content execution and track content requirements for fulfillment
- Lead content reporting, surfacing insights and learnings around day-to-day posts and campaigns
- Stay on top of social media trends and integrate new opportunities for the Mavericks’ social presence
- Identifying, recruiting and managing relationships with influencers to amplify the Dallas Mavericks brand.
- Provide onsite coverage for Mavericks events, including all home games, select away games and other team events, with the goal produce content within brand strategy for the Mavericks’ social media platforms
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Social Media Manager
Qualifications
- 2-3 year experience working in the sports industry in a similar role
- Understanding of the current and emerging social media platforms and trends
- Experiences with social media measurement tools
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of the NBA and the Mavericks, including performance and states, industry trends and basketball culture, as well as well versed in pop culture and trends
- Versatile interpersonal skills and professionalism to work across multiple environments and departments, including interactions with players
- Motivated self-starter with explicit attention to detail and strong organizational, collaboration, relationship building and communication skills
- Strong storytelling skills
- Ability to work autonomously, but also able to sync accordingly with full cross-department planning
- Ability and availability to work nights, weekends, some holidays, all 82 games, etc.
