Group Summary:

The HR Business Partner Team, within the People Team at the NBA, is responsible for providing direct HR support across all US business units in the US to drive the attraction and retention of the talent needed to fulfill the organization’s priorities and objectives. Services provided include consultation and support for business leaders to ensure that business needs are met through the coordination of HR services including Talent Acquisition, Social Impact and Inclusion, Compensation, Talent Management, Employee Relations, HR Operations, HR Consulting, Communications and employee engagement.


Position Summary:

The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as an experienced member of the HR Business Partner team, providing day-to-day HR support to employees, managers, and assigned business groups. This role works with a high degree of independence and judgment to address employee matters, execute people initiatives, and coordinate projects and processes across the full employee lifecycle.


The Senior HR Generalist partners closely with HR Business Partners and HR functional teams on performance management, employee engagement, talent development, organizational changes, and year-end processes, including helping to facilitate calibration sessions, coaching leaders on performance evaluations, and compensation planning.


The role also serves as an execution lead for key HR projects by developing processes, drafting communications and supporting materials, tracking deliverables, and coordinating work across Generalists and Analysts.



Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and effective HR guidance to employees and managers across assigned business units, independently resolving regular and moderately complex employee issues and escalating more complex issues to the appropriate HRBP, as appropriate.
  • Manage and lead the execution of projects and tasks associated with large people initiatives, such as restructuring, year-end processes, etc. Establish timelines, processes, communications, and tracking mechanisms to ensure consistent execution.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for select client groups and/or programs;  ensuring the coordination and delivery of high-quality HR services and support that is consistent, proactive and timely to effectively attract and retain the necessary talent to advance the mission and goals of the NBA and its leaders
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, policies, and the employee experience. Develop recommendations and partner with relevant stakeholders to implement changes.
  • Effectively partner with all Human Resources Business Partners and other related functions - Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Compensation, HR Operations, Benefits, and Legal - to advance the company's values and business strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees in the interpretation of HR policies and procedures and assist in resolution of issues; interpret, coach, and enforce Company policies and procedures for consistency and compliance.
  • Provide guidance to HR Operations Analysts on execution of assigned projects.
  • In partnership with HR Operations, process and ensure accuracy of employee data and personnel files.
  • Manage mid-year and year-end process execution (reporting, tracking, promotions, etc.)
  • Assist with execution of employee mobility needs (i.e. immigration, relocation, sponsorship, etc.) in partnership with legal and benefits teams.
  • Ad hoc reporting and operational tracking (training and program attendance, etc.).
  • Assist with drafting of Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Work with business leaders to create first drafts of Job Descriptions for assigned business units.
  • Responsible to support the full employee life-cycle, including onboarding, employee changes, organizational transitions, and exits; manage the employee exit process, analyze turnover to detect trends and conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and identify themes.
  • Develop meeting agendas, communications, presentations, and other materials for leadership, employee, and cross-functional meetings
  • Manage a diverse set of company-wide HR projects and initiatives as assigned.

Required Education/Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, general business, communications or psychology is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of related HR experience
  • Experience independently supporting employees and managers across multiple HR disciplines, including performance management, employee relations, talent processes, and organizational change
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional HR projects and recurring people processes from planning through execution

  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to anticipate and work proactively with HRBPs to provide necessary HR solutions.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems. Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and leverage AI tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $125,000
