Position Summary
The Season Producer/Editor is a hands-on shooter and editor who helps power Hawks Studios’ content engine throughout the NBA season. Reporting to the Director of Production, this role captures and edits game-day content at State Farm Arena for in-arena presentation, social and digital channels, and partnership deliverables, and owns smaller self-contained video projects from planning through final delivery.
This role brings strong editing fundamentals, field production skills, and working After Effects ability to a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment—helping tell the story of the season one game at a time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Game-Day Capture
- Serve as a primary shooter for Atlanta Hawks home games, capturing pregame, in-game, and postgame content including arrivals, warmups, bench and locker room access, fan moments, and entertainment elements.
- Execute the shot list and content plan set by the Director of Production while exercising sound editorial judgment on the floor.
- Operate cameras, lenses, audio, and lighting in run-and-gun and controlled interview settings.
- Manage media on game nights, including card offloads, backups, and handoff to the edit team.
2. Game-Day Editing & Quick-Turn Delivery
- Produce quick-turn edits during and immediately following games for the in-arena video board, Hawks social and digital channels, and partner deliverables.
- Cut in Adobe Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve with strong pacing, music selection, and storytelling instincts under live-event deadlines.
- Version and export final assets in the correct formats and aspect ratios for each destination (social, web, broadcast, in-arena).
3. Self-Contained Production Projects
- Own smaller, clearly scoped video projects from concept through delivery, including player features, community and Hawks Foundation stories, practice facility and behind-the-scenes content, and internal or partner requests.
- Handle pre-production planning, field shooting, interview capture, editing, graphics, color, and audio for each assigned project.
- Communicate timelines, progress, and delivery status clearly with the Director of Production and requesting stakeholders.
4. Motion Graphics & Brand
- Build and adapt lower thirds, titles, transitions, and simple animated elements in Adobe After Effects using Hawks Studios templates and Mogrts.
- Maintain Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena brand standards and sponsor requirements across every deliverable.
- Collaborate with the Creative Automation & Production Specialist to adopt approved templates and AI-assisted tools that speed up repeatable tasks.
5. Media Management & Workflow
- Log, tag, and ingest all captured footage into Iconik following Hawks Studios metadata and naming conventions so assets are discoverable by the broader organization.
- Follow established archive, project organization, and file-delivery workflows.
- Assist with gear prep and equipment care before and after events.
6. Season & Event Support
- Work Atlanta Hawks and College Park Skyhawks home games, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for the duration of the season.
- Support playoff and special-event surge needs, including additional games and extended hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Video Production, Digital Media, Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At minimum 2–4 years of professional experience producing and editing video content, with a reel that demonstrates both shooting and editing competency.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, and working knowledge of Adobe After Effects (template-based motion graphics, lower thirds, simple animation).
- Field production experience with mirrorless/cinema cameras, audio, and lighting.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under live-event deadlines.
- Availability to work all Hawks home games, including nights, weekends, holidays, and potential playoff games.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Preferred
- Previous experience creating content for a professional or collegiate sports team, league, network, or live entertainment venue.
- Experience working within a media asset management system (Iconik or similar) and structured ingest, tagging, and archive workflows.
- Color correction and audio mixing skills; comfort delivering to social, broadcast, and large-format video board specifications.
