Position Summary
The Safeguarding Coordinator will support the Safeguarding Director in the day-to-day delivery of the Club's safeguarding program by helping coordinate safeguarding operations, education, compliance, and player wellbeing initiatives across all levels of the Club, including the First Team, Rapids 2, and Academy. The role will contribute to fostering a positive safeguarding culture by supporting the implementation of safeguarding policies, procedures, and education throughout the Club.
 
Examples of work performed
  • Assist the Safeguarding Director in reviewing, updating, and implementing the Colorado Rapids' SafeSport policies and procedures that safeguard the Club's First Team, Rapids 2, and Academy.
  • Collaborate with staff across the Club's First Team, Rapids 2, and Academy to support the implementation, communication, and consistent application of SafeSport policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Work closely with the Club’s mental health practitioners to promote player wellbeing, ensuring a coordinated approach to safeguarding, mental health, and appropriate support pathways.
  • Coordinate the delivery and administration of SafeSport training across the Club, maintaining accurate completion records and supporting compliance with League and Club requirements.
  • Support the ongoing development and delivery of Club-specific safeguarding education (to supplement mandatory U.S. Center for SafeSport training) to raise awareness, strengthen the safeguarding culture, and improve the prevention and reporting of misconduct.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and delivering safeguarding initiatives and projects across the Club.
  • Assist with delivering SafeSport presentations to internal departments.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns by supporting timely reporting, documentation, and appropriate escalation in line with League, federal, and Club policies.
  • Assist the Safeguarding Director with the administration of confidential safeguarding concerns and investigations by maintaining accurate documentation, following established procedures, and applying a trauma-informed approach to support player wellbeing.
  • Assist with the Club's disciplinary processes, including preparing documentation and participating in disciplinary committee meetings as required.
  • Assist with implementing educational and restorative interventions following safeguarding concerns, as directed by the Safeguarding Director.
  • Maintain confidential safeguarding records, databases, and departmental documentation.
  • Assist the Safeguarding Director in facilitating the Colorado Rapids SafeSport Internship Program.
  • Support and collaborate with the Club's chaplains to promote player wellbeing and appropriate support pathways.
  • Support compliance with U.S. Center for SafeSport, MLS, and Club safeguarding requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Performance Requirements/Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Interest and experience in competitive sports environment (soccer preferred).
  • Interest and experience in residential housing environments preferred.
 
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred (e.g., Legal Studies, Social Services, Psychology, Law Enforcement, Education, Sport Management, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology etc.).
  • 1–3 years' experience in sport management, residential housing, safeguarding, education, compliance, or youth-serving organizations preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in sport safety and athlete rights.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Proficiency in Spanish desirable.
 
Compensation
  • Base hourly range: $25.00-$27.88
