Job Summary:

The Remote Replay Operator works on various media platforms including EVS LSM, Evertz Dreamcatcher, GV LiveTouch, SimplyLive ViBox and Dreamcatcher. Work is performed in a fast-paced environment across a wide variety of sports and events. The Remote Replay Operator is responsible for creating, organizing, recording, editing, and playing back video clips during and after live productions in coordination with show producer and director requests. They are expected to follow all relevant sports, leagues, and key players, with a strong understanding of rules, infractions, and basic game strategies.  This role requires an understanding of complex technical workflows within a mobile unit and interconnectivity systems. The operator is expected to take on a leadership role within the replay room during live productions, participate in advanced operational and production planning, drive troubleshooting efforts, and clearly communicate with onsite operations management. This operator is responsible for monitoring and selecting multiple camera angles to provide instant slow-motion replays of key moments. They must capture, edit, and playout instant replays, highlight packages, and teasers during remote live sports and studio productions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and operate in the replay role during live events, either as a replay-only position or as a packager. Demonstrate the ability to follow game storylines and create content with minimal direction.
  • Maintain an advanced understanding of professional and collegiate sports, including year-round storylines, key players, games, strategies, and rules. Ability to identify key moments, pitch them to producers and directors, and execute replays quickly on air.
  • Edit and compile highlight packages, teasers, and montages in real time to meet strict broadcast deadlines.
  • Select multiple camera angles to provide instant replays of key game moments.
  • Ensure all server channels and software are properly configured before broadcasts and troubleshoot technical issues on the fly.

  • Collaborate across the organization to plan and support the needs of the Event Operations team for specific productions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of practical live TV production or related experience in a large broadcast market, digital/streaming platform, or comparable collegiate level.
  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.
  • Advanced ability to perform under tight deadlines, work independently, and manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Proven ability to provide superior customer service.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic team and foster a positive culture.
  • Must be adaptable to a constantly changing environment.
  • In-depth technical mastery of industry-standard EVS broadcast systems (including XT-series servers, LSM Remote, and IPDirector).
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure mobile unit environments when unforeseen issues arise.
  • Strong understanding of the events being broadcast to anticipate gameplay and emotional moments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a mobile unit during a live sports remote broadcast.
  • Understanding of the workflows and equipment associated with live event productions. Including but not limited to replay machines, telestration systems, all-in-one production units, and video router infrastructure.  This includes but is not limited to EVS LSM, Evertz Dreamcatcher, GV LiveTouch, SimplyLive ViBox.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Broadcast Production equipment, workflows, and technology for remote productions. 
  • Superior understanding of remote production and mobile unit workflows and equipment.  
  • Superior understanding of all professional and collegiate sports including year-round storylines, key players and games, strategies and rules. Ability to recognize and identify key moments and replay quickly on-air to create content with minimal direction. 
  • Ability to lead a team of peers within a live production to delegate and prioritize responsibilities to exceed production’s needs.   
  • Expected to participate in frequent interactions with counterparts in Production Operations and closely related support departments. 

Required Education:

  • High School, Vocational School diploma or equivalent 

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Video Production, Studio Production, Journalism, or related field

Must be able to work nights, holidays and weekends.


The pay rate for this remote role is $70 to $90 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
