Project Employee, Events - Venue Operations

WORK OPTION: The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.

This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months. 

Position Summary:

The Venue Operations Project Employee will be involved in our busiest time of year and help support the operations of live events and venue operations. The role will contribute to event operations, venue logistics, vendor management, and event documentation. The optimal candidate should have strong attention to detail and effective communication skills. Previous experience or exposure to venue operations preferred.

This role will develop relationships with both internal and external business stakeholders, key vendors, and NBA venues to assist with executing venue operations for the highest value media-driven NBA Events such as NBA All-Star, NBA Finals, and NBA Global Games; and support of affiliate league events for the WNBA, NBA G League, NBA 2K League and USA Basketball. The optimal candidate will be a fast-paced high-impact executor with experience in events, venues, or operations.

Key Objectives & Tasks:

• Assist with the preparation and execution of venue operations plans for assigned events.
• Monitor and track event operational timelines and deliverables.
• Support event set up and breakdown activities, including operational checklists and venue readiness reviews.
• Participate in venue walkthroughs, stie visits, and event preparation meetings.
• Assist with post-event reporting and documentation.
• Support shipping needs including tracking schedules, tracking inventory levels, preparing event kits, staging pre-event, and logging post-event.
• Attend cross-functional planning meetings o understand departmental responsibilities.

• Prepare meeting materials, agendas, action items, follow-up tasks and note summaries.
• Maintain support communication with vendors, venue contacts, and internal stakeholders.
• Update venue operations playbooks, manuals, and event templates.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Undergraduate Degree: Business, Event Management, Marketing or Communications preferred.
• Must have at least 1 year experience in event management or venue operations.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze and present data.
• A keen interest in learning about sports operations, venue operations, and event management.
• Valid passport/ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and a passion for sports.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility and willingness to take on diverse tasks with a can-do attitude.

Salary Range:

$31.25/Hourly
