SUMMARY: The Manager of Payroll will manage the organization’s payroll functions (including multi-state) including payroll processing for all staff and players, auditing, budgeting, and other related activities in compliance with regulatory and National Football League (NFL) regulations. This role involves optimizing our ADP payroll system and assisting with key payroll initiatives and projects and fostering a service-focused positive team culture. This role works closely with the Finance and People and Culture teams and works with sensitive employment information with discretion and confidentiality.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Complete timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes (including multi-jurisdictional), and other deductions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal/state/location laws and employment policies Monitor and implement changes according to new or revised payroll laws.
  • Provide payroll information as requested and answer questions from internal external partners (routine and ad-hoc) in a courteous, confidential, and professional manner.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet payroll account reconciliations
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Manage relationship with and data transfers to/from ADP.
  • Prepare monthly and annual payroll-related journal entries.
  • Lead player cost portion of the Salary Cap reporting by completing schedules and reconciliation to payroll journal entries completed.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Responsible for multiple fringe benefit calculations.
  • Frequently review the timekeeping system for timesheet exceptions and ensure manager approval occurs by the payroll deadline.
  • Respond to all incoming verification forms for earnings and garnishments.
  • Respond to tax agency notifications and provide resolutions.
  • Coordinate 401K audit; including providing support for requests, managing follow-up from other departments, and taking an active role in reporting compliance.
  • Enhance ADP functionality to streamline processes and ensure data accuracy.
  • Maintain required and/or suggested ADP or payroll processing certifications.
  • Collaborate and accept ownership for data and decision support for employee-related business projects; including any system or process enhancements to improve efficiency or data availability (e.g., record retention, system upgrades, etc.)


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of experience in payroll or related financial field


  • Advanced experience and expertise with ADP (preferred) or other payroll/HRIS system required.
  • Experience processing payroll in a multi-jurisdictional environment, with knowledge of applicable compliance requirements preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information and recommend actionable insights.
  • Excellent time management with a consistent ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and competing demands.
  • Demonstrated experience in proactive problem-solving, including independent research, navigating obstacles, and clearly escalating and communicating effective solutions.
  • High integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information to individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to build trust andstrong relationships through efficient and high-quality services to internal and external stakeholders

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, & Word
