Position Summary/Objective: The Game Day Technology Specialist plays a critical role in delivering a world-class fan, team, and event experience by ensuring the technology that powers live events operates seamlessly. This position serves as the primary technology lead for home games and special events, responsible for the setup, operation, support, and maintenance of game day systems across Target Center. The role also provides technical support for events at Mayo Clinic Square and other venues throughout the Twin Cities, helping create reliable, engaging, and unforgettable event experiences. 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure all Game Day Technology systems are configured, tested, and operating in compliance with NBA, WNBA, and G League requirements for games and league events. 
  • Serve as the primary technology lead during Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx home games, providing real-time operational support and rapid issue resolution to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Administer and support mission-critical Game Day systems, including scoring, timing, replay, statistics, and other league-mandated technologies. 
  • Coordinate the setup, testing, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of hardware, software, and peripheral devices used for games, practices, and special events. 
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for internal departments, league partners, vendors, visiting teams, contractors, and event stakeholders to ensure technology readiness and successful event execution. 
  • Organize and coordinate seasonal contractor schedules and game coverage resources to support Game Day operations. 
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and support to game-night staff and event personnel, including guidance on technology systems, equipment usage, and issue resolution.
  • Deliver first-level technical support for Broadcast Technology operations, assisting Control Room staff and supporting critical game presentation and production systems. 
  • Plan and coordinate technology upgrades, preventative maintenance, and system enhancements while balancing the operational needs of Target Center and other venue events. 
  • Lead technology-related projects, including equipment deployments, infrastructure improvements, automation initiatives, process optimization efforts, and new system implementations. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation, equipment inventories, technical procedures, and troubleshooting guides to support operational consistency, knowledge sharing, and staff training. 
  • Support events at Mayo Clinic Square and other Twin Cities venues by ensuring technology systems are prepared, operational, and aligned with organizational standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively support technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience in information technology, technology operations, or technical support, with progressively increasing responsibility. 
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments. 
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, software applications, hardware devices, and peripheral equipment, including configuration, maintenance, and repair. 
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, TCP/IP protocols, network infrastructure, and related technologies. 
  • Experience installing, terminating, and troubleshooting network cabling and structured wiring systems. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively apply technical knowledge in operational environments. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate schedules, and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make effective decisions during live events and high-pressure situations. 
  • Experience coordinating schedules, contractors, or event staff preferred. 
  • Experience supporting live events, broadcast, production, scoring, replay, timing, or venue technology systems preferred. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other hours required to support games and events. 

Pay: $50,000-$65,000 annually paid hourly.

Experience: 2+ years of general computer and network experience.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is strongly preferred. 

Supervisory Responsibility, if any: This position does have supervisory responsibility. 

Travel: Position may require travel to external events.

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment.  In addition to working office hours staff are required to work Timberwolves and Lynx home games, member events and meetings, and networking events. The working environment is generally favorable. Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena which includes bleachers/steps as well as moderate to high levels of noise.   

Physical Demands 

​​​​The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone. Staff will frequently ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days. Staff may occasionally move objects weighing up to 15 pounds. ​
