The Miami HEAT is looking for a storyteller whose work earns a place inside the team huddle. The Full-Time Basketball Content Producer is a trusted partner to the coaching staff and other members of the Basketball Operations department, is someone who lives for basketball X's and O's, embraces the grind of an NBA season, and understands the power of the right video in the right moment. This role is not responsible for social media content. The Basketball Content Producer functions as an extension of the coaching staff producing internal video content such as motivational pieces, film session support, milestone tributes, and teaching tools. This role is built to serve the players, coaches and Basketball Operations department as opposed to external platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  • Work deeply embedded within Basketball Operations department attending and capturing all team practices, workouts, shootarounds, and player development sessions.
  • Maintain complete discretion and confidentiality with sensitive team video footage. Content produced in this role is for internal use only and is not intended for external platforms and public consumption.
  • Manage the ideation, development, planning, and production of the coaching staff's video needs in direct collaboration with Basketball Operations staff.
  • Produce, shoot, and edit motivational and support video presentations for coaching staff and players often on same-day or overnight turnarounds.
  • Create internal videos for pregame, film sessions, and key moments throughout the season in collaboration with the Basketball Operations department.
  • Communicate and collaborate across Content, Creative and other Marketing departments highly sensitive Basketball Operations information.
  • Set up and operate various production equipment for in-studio and on-location shoots, including cameras, audio and video recorders, and lighting equipment.
  • Extensively research, locate, and gather footage from Miami HEAT video archives for motivational, milestone, and historical video productions.
  • Hold a US Passport and be able to travel domestically and internationally, including traveling with the team as needed.
  • Work unconventional hours around the NBA schedule, which includes nights, weekends and holidays within tight deadlines.
  • Possess basic knowledge of software applications like Excel, Word, Outlook, and Photoshop for office tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Basketball Content

The ideal candidate excels in self-independence, one-person shoots, and strong editing skills. A deep understanding of the game of basketball, Miami HEAT history, and emotional storytelling is a requirement. This candidate must understand and embrace the discretion and trust required to work inside a professional team environment.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a marketing, communications or sports management related field
  • Minimum of 3-4 years experience with a professional/college sports team or sports brand
  • Significant in-depth knowledge and understanding of video/audio shooting and editing
  • Significant knowledge of the game of basketball, Miami HEAT team news (both current and historical) and NBA storylines
  • Strong writing, creative and analytical skills
  • Swift adaptability to around the clock Miami HEAT team events
  • Desire to work in and adapt to a fast-paced environment with availability for travel situations and work during nights, weekends and holidays
  • Motivated self-starter with explicit attention to detail, organization, both independent and collaboration skills, relationship building and communication
  • Photography and Adobe Photoshop skills are a plus
