The Account Executive, Group Sales is responsible for generating new business and growing existing relationships by selling group tickets, hospitality packages, and special event opportunities at Sutter Health Park. This role focuses on building partnerships with schools, youth leagues, faith-based groups, community organizations, associations, and local businesses to create memorable group experiences at River Cats and Athletics games in West Sacramento.

This is more than selling tickets — it’s about creating lasting connections, delivering exceptional service, and helping organizations engage their members, employees, and clients in meaningful ways. Core Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Sell Sacramento River Cats and Athletics ticket inventory including group outings, theme nights, fundraising events, and hospitality spaces.
  • Prospect and generate new leads through outbound calls, networking, referrals, and in-person visits.
  • Make a minimum of 100 points of contact per day via calls, emails, texts, and meetings.
  • Conduct in-person presentations, ballpark tours, and client meetings to showcase group experiences and hospitality options.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline to achieve and exceed revenue goals.

Client Service & Relationship Management

  • Provide excellent customer service to all group clients, ensuring seamless sales and event experience.
  • Act as the point of contact for group event execution on game days.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with existing clients to support renewals and generate referrals.
  • Resolve customer concerns in a proactive and professional manner.

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Partner with Ticket Sales, Partnerships, and Marketing to create innovative group programs and promotions.
  • Represent the River Cats at community events, networking opportunities, and group functions.
  • Support the execution of theme nights, promotional events, and grassroots outreach.

 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong sales skills with the ability to prospect, pitch, negotiate, and close business.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce preferred.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • Previous sales experience in sports, entertainment, or event hospitality strongly preferred.
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative team (sports, academic, or professional) a plus.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel locally for client meetings and community events.

 

Compensation
The expected annual base compensation for this role is $18/hr and includes overtime and commissions. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered.
